King of the Dancehall Beenie Man recently performed for Dwayne Wade as the retired Miami Heat hoopstar celebrated his 39th birthday in Jamaica.

In a January 17 post on Beenie’s IG account, Wade along with his wife, Hollywood actress Gabrielle Union-Wade were seen dancing on the beach to Beenie’s quaint rendition of Who Am I. The veteran aptly added ‘Happy Birthday mi bredda’ at the end of the verse, also sharing a photo with himself and the power couple.

Beenie captioned his IG post, “Earth day blessings to my brother @dwyanewade, more life & blessings🙏🏿. Respect & love to @gabunion. 🖤 Tonight was one for the books!”

Dwyane Wade commented on Beenie’s post, “Legend!!!! I was speechless brother. Thanks for the love.”  He also shared a clip of Beenie Man performing at his party to his Instagram story followed by over 17 million fans.

It’s the latest confirmation of the true weight of the genre, coming just days after Beenie’s former girlfriend, DHQueen Carlene demanded respect for her trendsetting looks. Beenie Man and Bounty Killer’s show-stopping Verzuz performance in 2020 also proved dancehall remains a force to be reckoned with, and is the show organizers’, Timbaland and Swizz Beatz, favourite moment in the series so far.

The Wades are known for their fun and intimate content, so it’s hardly a surprise they’re also Dancehall fans. Both the power couple and the Dancehall legend seemed elated about the intimate oceanfront performance.

The soiree held at an undisclosed location was lit in more ways than one, with large bonfires and a fire-breather who performed before a flaming backdrop of Wades’ name.

In addition to a private party, the retired NBA star was also gifted with a sweet video posted by his wife on Instagram.

The video featured a collage of photos of the couple, in addition to their kids which include: 2-year-old daughter Kaavia, 18-year-old Zaire,  7-year-old Xavier Zechariah, and 13-year-old Zaya.

“Happy Birthday baby,” Union wrote.

“You make every day beautiful and fun and the way you protect our peace makes me swoon. I love loving you. 39,” she added.

Last year, Union helped Wade celebrate his 38th birthday with a trip to Men’s Paris Fashion Week.

Beenie Man is set to release his 19th studio album this year, titled SimmaThe project was reportedly delayed due to “personal unexpected challenges” including the death of his mother last year.
