As the race for the People’s National Party (PNP) presidency comes to a close this Saturday, Member of Parliament for South East St. Anns, Lisa Hanna sits pretty confidently as the most hopeful candidate.

The former Minister of Youth and Culture took the time to lime and unwind with her Instagram followers yesterday to talk about all things (not related to politics, but not really), ensuing topics ranging from her skincare regimen to eventually, all-consuming of Reggae & Dancehall music.

It didn’t take long before the likes of Jesse Royal and the distinguished Beres Hammond to pop-up on her screen for a chat. Well for Beres, more so gush his love for Lisa, but he had a profound message for the minister. “Take you likkle time and grow,” he told her after insisting that she was indeed the right fit for the people, “I don’t know if is how you look or what but mi know you provide a kind of ambiance weh certain people inclined to want to be around you,” … this too included himself.

Her conversation with Jesse revealed something many already knew, which is her affection for Jamaican music and the entertainment culture but what we didn’t realize is, how much of a fan she was of his music.

Lisa pointed out one of her “all-time favourite songs” by Jesse is Lion Order featuring Protoje among a slew of others. This of course prompted a flattered yet unconvinced, Jesse to set a date so that he could challenge her on that.

“Music is my inspiration, always been and I love what you guys are doing,” said the MP, further along in the convo, referring to the young generation of artistes in the genre, adding that she is also an avid listener to Lila Ike’s music plus others.

Not wanting to ever disappoint her friends in the industry, Lisa asked Jesse in somewhat of a statement to the wider fraternity, to always express his true feelings about anything he felt she needed to be confronted on as she goes about her political undertakings.

Who would have imagined that her next caller was going to be none other than Charly Black.

Finally giving us some more insight on what many already knew was the inspiration for one of his latest singles entitled “Lisa Hanna, we see the two celebs as pretty good friends. Lisa humbly and according to her, officially thanked the Dancehall deejay for epitomizing her in his single. It was a natural process, he explained, having dated someone prior that ‘have a feature and energy’ like Hanna, the former beauty queen.

Comedian, Majah Hype on the other hand, wasn’t all too fond of Black’s focus on Lisa in his song, he called in next with a strong message to the Gyal You A Party Animal deejay. “Mr Charly Blacks from out a Trelawney … Mi want you do me ah favor and low mi friend”, he said then continued to poorly mimic Black’s vocals and lyrics on the track but in all was concerned that he is “looking” Lisa. The MP however called his bluff and outright just told Hype, “The song good man, you too badmind.”

They two drifted through several topics, mostly about Hype’s return to doing live shows since the pandemic. Check out more of Lisa’s IG live session below and Majah Hype’s snarky comment when the fans asked to call in Spice!
