Dancehall veteran Spragga Benz says he is happy that he and Vybz Kartel have decided to bury the hatchet, and team up for a brand new remix of the track Jump on the Beat, which will also feature Kartel’s son Likkle Vybz, and Demarco.

Spragga and Kartel have been at odds since 2005 after he immersed himself in the midst of a lyrical battle between the Worl’ Boss and Agent Sasco, where he sided with the Loco artiste.

The longstanding feud started with Spragga clouting Kartel with the diss track Done See It.  Kartel lashed out the very same day Done See It was released, with a counteraction of his own titled  F_got Correction, which is said to be one of the fastest counteractions in Dancehall history.

Prior to the feud the two artistes had a good relationship and even collaborated on the track Bedroom Slaughteration on the Panty Raid riddim in 2003, which was produced by John John.

However, a few days ago, Spragga posted photos of himself and Kartel on his Instagram page, and made it clear that the battle was over, and he had united with the incarcerated superstar. This revelation was endorsed by Agent Sasco who posted his support in the form of a 100 percent sign and a trophy.

“Ghetto yutes… Nuh matter how big an enemy we might think you are… if you really love your self, your nation, your people, your culture and your creator; we have to put petty differences aside.  Leave survival mode and move to growth mode through UNITY,” Spragga noted.

His response came a few days after Kartel announced on Instagram that he was doing the remix for Jump on the Beat, in which Spragga was taking part and paid homage to the Jack it Up singer, referring to him as “Uncle Spragga Benz”.

The announcement comes a year after the Camperdown High School old boy lampooned Vybz Kartel during an interview with host of Television Jamaica’s Entertainment Report, Anthony Miller recently, after the journalist provocatively asked him whether he had been burnt by the World Boss.

Spragga had declared that whilst he respects Vybz Kartel as a Dancehall artiste, at no time has he been fearful of taking on the Fever artiste in any lyrical battle.

Spragga, who turned 51 years old in May, also said at the time that he had scorched Vybz Kartel during the lyrical rivalry and not the other way around, as he had matched, and even vanquished Kartel, lyrics for lyrics in several instances.

“Vybz Kartel came close to be burnt from me. Get it the right way deh. Get it in the right perspective” a laughing Spragga Benz had said, before adding: “Is a deejay weh me respect, but is not a deejay who me fear.”

The Count Tree artiste had also dismissed Vybz Kartel’s apparent uniqueness and dominance in Dancehall, attributing it to what he described as the Dumpa Truck artiste’s lower value system.  He said this was evident in the Calabar High School old boy’s introduction of forbidden sexual practices, which were shunned in the Dancehall space, into his lyrics for ‘shock value’.

Spragga’s announcement of the collaboration has been met with glee by the majority of  his fans, many of whom said it was long overdue and that they were proud of him for letting bygones be bygones.   One fan though, johnsonlatroye, said he was highly  displeased and made it clear to Spragga, in no uncertain terms.

“As fan, and as someone that I respect for many of years throughout music. You really disappoint me. Imagine a man that diss you in songs for years, you turned around and deal with this bleaching b-tch. You are a phenomenal artist, and I still respect you no matter what. But you really disappoint me Carlton, you really disappoint by doing this and dealing with this person. Respect always still general,” he noted on Spragga’s Instagram page.
