Wayne Marshall and his wife Tami Chin Mitchell are well known for their dancing and singing exploits but recently Wayne shared something about himself that few people know about. The singer opened about how he lost his US visa on his Meet The Mitchells YouTube channel, about two weeks ago.

The story was quite interesting and a bit scary for Wayne, who, in July had also dished about the other time he almost went to jail for the murder of a police officer.

Marshall said it all happened about 15 years ago while he was on his way to see a pregnant girlfriend and the authorities in Miami, Florida searched his bag. He reminisced that he had forgotten about a secret compartment in his bag.

“The guy guh so and pull the zipper, and mi see a likkle plastic peep out. Right deh so now mi get a bad vibes, a bad feeling come over me,” Wayne shared.

“Me now a wonder a wah dat cause mi not even memba da zipper deh. The man go so and pull out a small bag of marijuana,” he added. Following the discovery, he was taken to the police station and charged.

He denied that herbs were his own and instead explained that his friend had put the weed in his bag following a ‘country’ trip in Jamaica about six months before. This was just the beginning of his troubles as following his arrest, he got bail but had to make several trips to and from the United States to attend court.

He revealed that during the course of these travels he got in even more trouble.

“On the sixth trip, something happens. For some reason, this immigration officer, a female, decides that she don’t trust me,” he said. “I don’t know what because I was back and forth and obviously she saw that… she nah tek dat, she send me back a Jamaica. She said: ‘I’m sorry. I’m not letting you into the United States of America’.”

Of course, that complicated matters for him. He would eventually miss the birth of his son because of the action taken against him. He said he was lucky enough to request that the birth of his son be recorded.

He added: “When you thought this situation couldn’t get worse, here I am about to be deported… I have just missed the birth of my son based on this because I can’t fly.”

Eventually, Wayne got his documents and visa in order and is now able to travel to the United States as the case was determined to be a misdemeanor. He revealed that whenever he flies though he has to go through a secondary check.
