The Narcotics police will be searching George Nooks’ Mercedes-Benz GL 450 SUV in the presence of his attorneys today. The vehicle was seized by police during the God is Standing By singer’s arrest on drug charges last Thursday.

“The vehicle is to be searched today in the presence of his attorneys,” attorney-at-law Christopher Townsend, one of the lawyers representing Nooks, said.

Nooks is being represented by Townsend and Kaysain Kennedy of TWP, as well as Tom Tavares-Finson, QC, and Donahue Martin.

The 59-year-old singer was arrested for an April 2019 incident and charged with possession of cocaine and attempting to pervert the course of justice. Allegations are that Nooks ingested “some substance” after being accosted by the police in Liguanea, St Andrew, in April 2019. He was taken to Kingston Public Hospital for observation and subsequently released before his arrest 18 months later.

After spending a night in police lock-up, Nooks was offered bail the following day in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court in Half-Way-Tree. His bail is set at $300,000 and he is scheduled to re-appear in court on January 13, 2021.

The attorneys will be seeking the return of the artiste’s vehicle after today’s search.

In the meantime, there is overwhelming support for Nooks from his fans online.

“The hotter the battle, the sweeter the victory, because our prayers are with him,” one Christian supporter said. “The truth will prevail for  “we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against a spiritual wickedness in high places”.
