Dancehall deejay Daddy1 tops the roster of Jamaican musicians that have honored their old ladies today on Mother’s Day. While other celebs like Vybz Kartel, Shaggy, Koffee and Spice have all headed to their social media to share photos and heartening toasts to their mothers, Daddy1 has released a new single completely dedicated to his.

The official audio for his single Mommy Love was uploaded to his VEVO page today, Sunday May 10th under the production of Extol Music and Shabdon Records.

Who would have thought this roughneck 6ix Crew deejay could create such a tear-jerking tune. Mommy Love takes us back to the Bro Gad’s rough upbringing, where he recounts a life wearing over the same pair of shoe and shirt everyday, also eating jack mackerel and rice for dinner. God knows he didn’t complain or quarrel he said.

As hard as things were, single mother Shelly made everything feel better and gave young Adrian Bailey the drive and confidence he needed to become whom we now know as Daddy1. Now the revered deejay promises hope to his mother, “things a go get better regardless,” and efforts towards building the mansion for the family are in the pipeline he says. Then vows that he’s going to get rich or die trying, ‘ that’s the plan!’

The 20 year old wraps up his tribute saying, “ Mommy Shelly, yow me go make you proud mon, don’t worry bout nothing, yuh hear dat. Shelly a you have me heart eno.”

Staying true to his hardcore style, Daddy1 manages to deliver this heart-wrenching single, a true demonstration of his sheer genius. Opening the doors to let audiences in to his hard-knock journey was a profound and highly insightful addition. His tenacity is admirable and the respect and love for Shelly is simply beautiful.

“Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers dem out there,” Daddy1 chimes in to end his latest single. Check out the official audio below –
