The newest upcoming artiste from the “Gaza” camp, Sikka Rymes, has stirred controversy in the Dancehall arena with his new single, Dem A Ask. Being referred to as the protégé to Vybz Kartel, the artiste has seemingly fired lyrical shots at veteran Dancehall entertainer, and former Alliance member with Kartel, Aidonia.

Dem A Ask, voiced on the Immortal Riddim produced by the World’s Fastest Man and retired Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt, has racked up over 66,000 views since its upload to YouTube three days ago.

While many Dancehall fans suspect this single is aimed at Aidonia, following the recently re-ignited beef between the “Bruk Out” artiste and Vybz Kartel, Sikka claims that the song was written prior to the current disparity between the two Dancehall veterans.

The #50 trending song on YouTube Jamaica begins with Sikka Rymes shaming an unnamed artiste for delayed composition and release of music. Coincidentally, Aidonia has just declared his return from a year-long hiatus from the music industry and thrown subliminal jabs at Kartel with his latest single, Aircraft, released last month. Being the acclaimed heir to the Gaza throne and self-proclaimed Vice President of the Gaza Empire, Dancehall fans believe Sikka released Dem A Ask in defense of Kartel in saying, “Me fully Gaza, it run inna me vein; nuh true me nuh carry the G last name.

Sikka has released two songs in the last week, also dropping Solider four days ago, which has gained over 55,000 views on YouTube since its upload. Produced under Stillyet Productions on the Upfull riddim, Soldier speaks about the artiste’s determination and commitment to Dancehall.

Although regarded as a new artiste, Sikka Rymes expressed in a voice note he released to social media two weeks ago that he has been underground in the Dancehall industry for years. In an On Stage interview in the same period, the artiste revealed that he is and has always been close to Vybz Kartel, even before his imprisonment in 2014 – making him a suitable recipient of the Gaza King baton.

Javian “Sikka Rymes” Chambers is the cousin of imprisoned Dancehall artiste and fellow Gaza Empire member, Shawn Storm. The artiste was hospitalized earlier this month with life-threatening injuries after being shot in Liguanea following a performance in Sandy Park, St. Andrew.

Despite the controversy, many Dancehall fans deem Sikka Rymes an artiste to watch in 2020, expressing an improvement in his lyrical talent and flow, and the expectation of greatness from his allegiance to the Gaza Empire.
