The highly acclaimed dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel is set to release his new album on January 10th, 2020.  The new album is titled To Tanesha, and is now available for pre-order on iTunes.

The 10-track compilation is a dedication to his baby mother and common law wife, Tanesha Jackson, better known as Shorty.  Shorty heads the Short Boss Muzik record label which co-produced the new album along with her husband’s Vybz Kartel Muzik label.  The couple share three boys together with two of them, Adidja (Little Addi) and Akheel Palmer (Little Vybz) reportedly appearing on the album.

The two have had an on-again, off-again relationship since his incarceration.

To Tanesha apparently features 9 new tracks.  Only Then You & Me was previously released. Here’s the track list:

  1. Neva Was Da One
  2. Delusional (featuring Sikka Rymes)
  3. Then You & Me
  4. More than You Receive
  5. Neva Walk Alone (featuring Jodi Couture)
  6. Rocket to Da Moon
  7. In Da Moment
  8. Makes No Sense (featuring Slimatic)
  9. Cast Iron Heart (featuring Jada Kingdom)
  10. Fell Apart

The album features a collaboration with Gaza member, Sikka Rymes. The two have already released two tracks this year, Summer Body and Like I’m Superman. The dancehall industry, after receiving the shocking news of Sikka’s recent shooting, received some bittersweet news yesterday. The DJ, who is nonetheless recovering well from shots to his knee, chest and hand said in a gloomy voicenote that he is unable to move around and even use his hands to write his music.

This is especially depressing for the young dancehall artiste because he says he is the breadwinner for his family. Hopefully this future track, Delusional with Kartel is not one of the last tunes we will be hearing form the DJ and things will be looking up for him in 2020.

Like with Sikka Rymes, Kartel has been featured on tracks this year with Jodi Couture, the dancehall artiste and self-proclaimed sex symbol promoted lyrics to his latest audio release ‘Protect Them’, on her Instagram page recently. Yet, there was no mention of their new collab on this new album.

The incredible talent that is Adidja ‘Vybz Kartel” Palmer almost never disappoints when it comes on to his music. Fans are always on the edge of their seats as they await his new releases. It is particularly quite interesting when he chooses to collaborate with other artistes, a seemingly deliberate and keenly selective process.  His choice of working with the “Banana” DJ Songstress Jada Kingdom has got some fans asking “What about Shenseea?”
