It seems Vybz Kartel is feeling Usain Bolt’s Immortal Riddim, as he just dropped a second track on the beat titled Protect Them.  His previous track on the Riddim was ADIADKING which has now received almost 1 million streams on Youtube since its release on November 28th.

In the new track, Kartel scorches men who have committed acts of violence against women and children in Jamaica.  These types of violence have been a hot topic in Jamaica recently.  In late November, children in Jamaica addressed the House of Representatives and pleaded with its members, including Prime Minister Andrew Holness, to do more to end the violence that affects them.  The UN this year also declared that Jamaica had the second most murders committed against women in the world, with 11 in 100,000 killed in 2017.  Kartel is clearly in tune with these staggering statistics.

“Weh woman do yuh mek yuh so spiteful, when yuh lickle no girl neva wan yuh, neva get pum pum when ya friends were, every girl wha ya ask tell yuh no”, the worl’ boss sings in blistering admonishment of “inferior” men who have killed women and children and now think they’re “cold”.

“RIP, to a man who ah kill woman and picknee, Yuh na cold like me”, Vybz Kartel says in the chorus which is probably not the lyrics you want to put out while you’re awaiting the verdict on your appeal case for murder but this is Kartel and no doubt he has encountered many of these “inferior” men since his own incarceration.  Vybz Kartel and three other men were found guilty of murder in 2014 and he is currently behind bars at the Tower Street Adult Correctional Centre in Kingston.

Kartel is not the only artiste to recently address hot button social issues in Jamaica.  Jada Kingdom‘s Execution has been getting praise for taking aim at perpetrators of rape and child molestation.

The 2 minute track is produced by A-Team Lifestyle / Usain Bolt and is distributed by 21st Hapilos Digital Distribution. Listen to the official audio for Protect Them now streaming on Youtube.
