Vybz Kartel Pours His Heart Out In New Collab With Jodie Couture
Vybz Kartel toned down the vibe in his newest release to produce a memorable song that captures the authentic sentiment. The king of dancehall latest track is an infused collaboration with the multi-talented Jodi Couture, titled “Sky Map.”
Although this is the 7th track in as little as 30 days, his brilliance is second to none from the way he obliterates the beats to his sick lyrics. It is even more shocking to know that he can still command dancehall, all while behind bars. Di Teacha is untouchable.
From the looks of things, it appears that he had saved the best for the last. The track is clear evidence that the king of the dance floor should not be tested. “Sky Map” has an unusual approach, with a less gritty demeanor and starts with a signature guitar riff. Its emotional perspective is something we haven’t heard from the Dancehall Hero in a while. The slow, melancholic instrumental tugs at every heartstring and the heartfelt lyrics are not only calming but very relatable.
The new single, released for streaming on YouTube on November 19, 2019, soars into full flight for the remainder of the track, with a raunchy lyrical banter between the two artistes boasting their sexual prowess. The track culminates with a transition into trap-inspired, lyrically loaded bridge voiced by Kartel.
Jodi’s seductive voice makes a perfect intro,” Baby, I just want you to make me be a naughty girl/I want you to make me scream/ I want to say your name {laugh out and make a soft moan}I want to say your name.”
Vybz then comes through with a chorus that is a mashup of gyal tune with a bad man song. He perfects straddle both concepts with a lyrical flow that no other artiste can pull up.
“She higher than ah sky map/wah some cocky, yea she haffi ride that/pop it off like is ah pretty nine Glock/foot dem high coulda block ah pilot.”
Although an upcoming artiste in Dancehall, this is Jodi’s second track with Kartel following the success of their debut collaboration “Backshot”, which racked up 1.1 million views on YouTube since its release in January. As a versatile artiste, Jodi intertwines the edge of trap with hardcore Dancehall beats to create dynamic hybrid singles such as “Bend Ya Back”, released two months ago.
Now a Dancehall Christmas tradition, music enthusiasts can expect a flood of sexy singles this season – each one riding sensual riddims while delivering increasing sex appeal – reminiscent of hits like Kartel’s “Like Christmas” (2010) that dominated airwaves.
Although this marks the eighth year of Katel’s incarceration, his physical absence has not slowed down the popularity of his music or success of the new song he has been dropping.
