Masicka – Different Type

In his highly anticipated first release from his debut album, 4.3.8, Masicka “forwarded” with the track Different Type to much fanfare. The RD Studios produced visuals is currently holding down the No. 2 on YouTube trending in Jamaica and shows off the deejay’s expensive whips and hot video vixens while he dishes his ‘different type’ of prestige and badness. “Different type a killa wi nuh pretend strika, Different type ah …. mi b-tch dem hypa (Different). Different type a money yo wi live dem life yah. Different type a strain inna mi brain sumaddy swing mi lighta,” he sings on the chorus.

Vybz Kartel – Chip Glock

Trending at the No. 3 spot on YouTube Jamaica is Vybz Kartel’s Chip Glock – a grim hunt for a certain “hopscotch ni99a” carried by the Worl’ Boss’s smooth and deadly, stealthy tones. The eloquent lyricist, who gives us a look at ‘black’ Kartel in the cover art, says he’s “colder than the snowman, equally abominable, horrible, terrible, cross like the devil” with his ‘Chip Glock in hand, his target doesn’t stand a fighting chance.

Rygin King – Squeeze Trigga

The trap king Rygin King, who was shot and seriously injured, last year, arrives on the scene this week with a pretty cinematic display to accompany his new track Squeeze Trigga. The plot takes viewers right in the middle of warfare between two gangs that all began when an unscheduled stop turned into a bloodbath of sorts. But it doesn’t end until the squad avenges the death of a fellow associate.

TeeJay and Jdon Heights – SpaceMan

Teejay and JDon Heights of the Up Top Camp say their guns are loaded and ready for the road in their single SpaceMan. “Bwoy better gwan home when di dog dem ah roam,” because their “spaceman” (guns) are the type that “clap it in a forehead give you facial.” The Wikd Media directed video interprets their grisly narrative brandishing guns in abundance among their roughneck crew.

Squash – Rate Who Rate You

The 6ix Boss Squash tells it like it is in his new track, Rate Who Rate You. Simply put, if you don’t rate him then he doesn’t rate you. He loves his guns more than friends; in fact, his weed and Hennessey are his best friends. The Shane Creative-directed music video for the track, which is featured on the My Letter To You Riddim has certainly resonated with the fans, it’s now trending at No. 1 on YouTube Jamaica.

Jahvillani – Wave The Rifle

OneGovament Dancehall star Jahvillani sums up this playlist of ‘gun chunes’ with his new release Wave The Rifle that carries somewhat like a gangster’s anthem. Chanting on the hook, “wave di rifle gad, wave di rifle” on a skippy Dancehall mixed with rumba sounding baseline, the deejay prompts an uncustomary singsong vibe.

Gage & Devin Di Dakta – Eye For An Eye

Dancehall artistes Gage and Devin Di Dakta have shared Eye For An Eye as the flagship track off their upcoming collaboration project. Taking the No. 6 spot on trending for music in Jamaica, the new release is already looking like a good preview of what’s to come from the project.

The two deliver their verses by way of a conversation that reveals a grief-stricken past of Devin. Witnessing his father’s murder in broad daylight as a teen, he wants nothing more than revenge but Gage assures him, it’s no way to seek justice. Gage reasons that it will instead bring him a ‘death wish’ – “Sound like you love you daddy but you out fi let him down. Mi sure him never save you then fi turn killer now. You father never protect you because you young, you father protect you because you a yuh father son.”
