Shenseea spent most of her adult life faking orgasms, and she decided the best place to finally say so was on a record.

The dancehall star, who turned 30 on October 1, has been reflecting on her September single “Vulnerability,” a song where she admits no man had ever brought her to climax.

She got candid about it during a sit down on the No NDA podcast with host Rushane Campbell.

The conversation covered a lot of ground, from her career and her son to fellow dancehall stars and legends like Vybz Kartel. The clip about her sex life is the one that took off online.

The song wastes no time getting there. 29 years under the sun,” she sings, before confessing that a man never made her finish and tracing it back to a mental block from something she heard long ago.

When Campbell brought up those lines, Shenseea didn’t back away from them. “Honestly, it was hard for me to admit that.

But, it was so necessary because all my life, ever since me start, which is NOT young, by the way, I’ve been faking it,” she said.

She explained that the realization crept up on her with age. “The older me get, I’m like, ‘Wait, it still hasn’t happened.’ But it’s not hurting them, it’s hurting me, ’cause I’m lying,” she said, adding that she needed to figure it out.

There’s a happier footnote to the story. Shenseea said that in her most recent situation, she finally worked out how to get there in the moment.

The heavier part of the conversation was about why it took so long. “I just feel like there’s so much trauma built up in my head ever since I was younger. It’s so hard to open up fully,” she told Campbell.

That struggle sits right at the center of the chorus. She sings about wanting someone to “teach me how to be more open,” describes herself as “guarded like a cell,” and admits she’s “so damn stuck in my ways” while still “trying to find vulnerability.”

What makes the confession land is the contrast with her own catalog. Back in December 2019, Shenseea released “Foreplay,” a track where she played instructor and told men exactly how to prepare a woman before sex.

Hearing her now say she was faking it behind the scenes adds a strange new layer to that song, and she brought it up herself during the interview.

She’s also stepping into a conversation other women in entertainment have been having out loud. Amanda Seales has spoken about not knowing women were expected to fake it to please partners, while Pam Grier, 76, has joked openly about sex and aging.

Not everything in Shenseea’s world is this reflective right now. She’s still tangled in a public back and forth with the mother of London On Da Track’s child following her diss track, and fans are watching to see which side of her shows up next.
