Protoje

Protoje, born Oje Ken Ollivierre, is a Jamaican reggae and dancehall artist from Saint Elizabeth, Jamaica, and one of the leading voices of the modern reggae revival movement. Raised in a musically distinguished family, he built his sound from roots reggae foundations while drawing on hip-hop, soul, jazz, and contemporary dancehall. He first gained notice in the early 2000s, broke through with the 2011 album The Seven Year Itch, and expanded his international profile with releases including Ancient Future, A Matter of Time, In Search of Lost Time, and Third Time’s The Charm. His work has repeatedly appeared on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart and earned Grammy recognition. Through his In.Digg.Nation Collective, Protoje has also supported and developed newer Jamaican artists such as Sevana, Lila Iké, and Jaz Elise, reinforcing his role as both performer and tastemaker in contemporary Jamaican music.
