Move over, everybody—the King has entered the chart.
Dancehall heavyweight Beenie Man is sitting atop the U.S. iTunes Albums chart with Eminence, the veteran entertainer’s 20th studio album, released through Billboard King.
And he didn’t sneak into the throne room. He kicked the door wide open.
Eminence surged to No. 1 ahead of Phoebe Bridgers’ Lost Weekend at No. 2, Ella Langley’s Dandelion at No. 3 and Nipsey Hussle and Bino Rideaux’s PROLIFIC at No. 4.
The Jamaican superstar is also outranking projects from Noah Kahan, Masicka, Eagles, Five Finger Death Punch, KATSEYE and Michael Jackson—an eclectic heavyweight lineup that makes his chart victory even more striking.
Unlike streaming charts, iTunes rankings track actual digital purchases in real time. Translation: fans aren’t merely pressing play. They’re pulling out their wallets.
Most of the projects currently trailing Eminence are expected to appear on next week’s Billboard 200, raising the stakes around Beenie Man’s strong opening.
Just one day before the album arrived, the dancehall icon unveiled its complete tracklist—and it reads like the guest list for an A-list after-party.
Rick Ross, Ashanti, T.I., Snoop Dogg, Mya, Rotimi, Lola Brooke, Elephant Man, Stefflon Don, Tifa and Pamputtae all appear on the project, creating a cross-genre collision of dancehall, hip-hop and R&B.
Ross clocks in for double duty. The Miami rapper joins Rotimi on “Hat Tip” before returning for “876/305,” a title connecting Jamaica’s 876 area code with Miami’s famous 305.
That’s not just a collaboration. That’s an international call with the bass turned all the way up.
Eminence follows Beenie Man’s 2023 album Simma, which sold approximately 500 units in the United States during its opening week, according to Luminate data provided to WMV.
The new release adds another chapter to a catalogue built across more than four decades. Beenie Man has released an extensive collection of studio albums, compilations, live recordings and singles while helping to push dancehall deeper into the global mainstream.
Six of his studio projects—Art and Life, Many Moods of Moses, Tropical Storm, The Doctor, Undisputed and Back to Basics—have topped Billboard’s Reggae Albums chart.
His crossover résumé is just as decorated.
“Girls Dem Sugar,” featuring Mya, peaked at No. 54 on the Billboard Hot 100 and reached No. 16 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart in 2000. “Dude,” featuring Ms. Thing, climbed to No. 26 on the Hot 100 in 2004, while “Feel It Boy,” featuring Janet Jackson, became another major international radio and sales hit.
His albums also made noise beyond reggae. Art and Life reached No. 68 on the Billboard 200 and No. 18 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Tropical Storm climbed to No. 7 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums tally, while Unstoppable became his 11th top-10 entry on the Reggae Albums chart when it debuted at No. 5 in 2016.
Now, with Eminence ruling U.S. iTunes, Beenie Man is proving that longevity doesn’t have to mean living in the past.
More than 40 years into the game, the Doctor is still making house calls—and this time, he brought a crown.
