The most talked-about moment from Ice Spice and Lil Yachty’s new single “Out My Face (My Baby)” has nothing to do with the bars or the beat.
It’s a CGI baby bump that sent the internet into full speculation mode, and now Spice has had to clean up the mess herself.
The line that started it all was pretty simple: “Matter fact, make me a mom.” In the music video, her belly visibly swells right as she delivers that lyric, which was clearly a visual gag tied to the song’s concept. A lot of people, apparently, did not get the joke.
Rolling Stone confirmed she was not pregnant, but Spice still felt the need to hop on TikTok and say it plainly. “I’m not pregnant, guys,” she said, adding, “That was… In the song, I literally say, ‘Matter fact, make me a mom,’ and it was CGI. I am chunky, though… I’m a mess, girl. I’m not pregnant…” It’s the kind of response that’s half-exasperated, half-laughing at the whole situation.
Lil Yachty didn’t stay quiet either. He reportedly posted a behind-the-scenes photo of the fake prosthetic bump, leaning into the absurdity of the rumors rather than just letting them die down.
Between the two of them, the response was less damage control and more a collective eye-roll at how literally people took a music video moment.
This isn’t the first time Ice Spice has had to shut down this particular rumor. The 26-year-old Bronx rapper has been fielding pregnancy speculation for a while now, and she’s gotten pretty good at handling it with a blunt, deadpan kind of humor.
At this point, it almost feels like the rumors follow her around like background noise she’s learned to tune out, or occasionally use for a bit of extra attention.
What’s interesting is that the song itself, and the video’s visual choices, were clearly designed to provoke a reaction. Spice knows her audience, and she knows what gets people talking.
The fact that a CGI belly could generate this much chatter says something about how closely fans are watching her every move, parsing lyrics and visuals for hidden announcements.

She missed Summer Jam and a Kentucky festival appearance earlier this year, which of course sent a separate wave of speculation through her fanbase.
Those questions got answered quickly too, though the full picture around those cancellations remains a little murky.
Outside of music, Spice has been building out other parts of her brand. She launched a fragrance called “In Ha Mood” earlier this year through a partnership with Revlon and Ulta Beauty, which shows she’s thinking beyond just singles and features.
The Yachty collab and the chaos it accidentally stirred up is just the latest chapter in what’s shaping up to be a pretty busy year for her.
