Popcaan finally gets a credited feature on a Drake album, but he isn’t the only Caribbean link in the Canadian rapper’s three-project drop on Friday.

The Unruly Boss appears on Amazing Shape, track six on the 14-song album. The project arrived alongside Iceman and Habibti, giving Drake 43 new songs in a single release day.

The link-up marks Popcaan’s first credited feature on a Drake album, after many years of friendship and close musical ties between the two. Their previously released collaborations, Twist & Turn, All I Need, and We Caa Done, appeared on Popcaan projects, while Popcaan’s original contribution to Drake’s 2016 track Controlla was left off the official album version.

Popcaan was previously signed to Drake’s OVO Sound, where he released the 2019 mixtape Vanquish, followed by Fixtape in 2020 and Great Is He in 2023. He is now independent.

Montego Bay-based producer Justin “Mvssivh” Junagadala also contributed to Drake’s triple release. He worked on Ran To Atlanta, the Iceman collaboration with Future and Molly Santana, and also contributed to New Bestie on Maid of Honour.

On New Bestie, Drake references Vybz Kartel in patois with the lines: “Addi yah mi daddy, yah di teacha,” “big up the teacha,” and “mek Kartel get one line fi the teacha, Gaza grim reaper.”

National Treasures, featured on Iceman, was co-produced by Toronto-based Jamaican Matthew “Boi-1da” Samuels, while Which One, featuring Central Cee, lists a songwriting credit for artist and producer Tyshane Thompson, better known as BEAM, the son of gospel artist Papa San.

There is also a soca pull on Maid of Honour.

BBW, track seven on the album, has drawn attention from Caribbean listeners for its heavy use of Denise “Saucy Wow” Belfon’s Work, the Trinidadian classic that Shenseea and Megan Thee Stallion also sampled on their 2022 single Lick.

That earlier use led to a US$10 million copyright lawsuit from producer Anastas “Pupa Nas-T” Hackett. Shenseea and Interscope later reached a settlement with him.

According to Pitchfork, Drake’s three-album drop marks his first solo release run since 2023’s For All the Dogs, following his 2025 joint album with PARTYNEXTDOOR, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U. Iceman includes 18 tracks, Maid of Honour has 14, and Habibti carries 11.
