Denz Asti, Safiyah Release “African”

With Reggae and Black History Month well underway, recording artists Denz Asti and Safiyah have released the track  African to pay homage.

“The release date was chosen to highlight African culture and music’s impact, globally coinciding with a moment of cultural celebration—Black history month, to be exact. It’s the birthday of one of our greatest musicians from the African diaspora the great Robert Nesta Marley (Bob Marley),” Denz Asti said.

Produced by Prod.LoudSpeakr and Cheekydon Music, it was released today, February 6.

In the same breath, Denz Asti explained that he was inspired to write the track due to his romantic interest.

“This song African was inspired by my girlfriend. I wrote this song for her. She changed me in ways I never knew could happen, loved me in ways I never knew I could be loved; she shows respect and compassion and I wanted to make a song that best describes her and show her how appreciative I am of her as an artiste. That’s the best way I know how,” he explained.

He added that the song came together seamlessly; from the collaborator to the producers all playing their parts.

“Me, Cheekydon along with LoudSpeakr Released a debut album last year called 5th Dimension. So, I had no doubts with them involved and taking charge with this song. Loudspeakr then mention Safiyah to me and said he wanted me to callab with her. I told him I have the perfect song I knew she wouldn’t disappoint because I know what she’s capable of as she’s already a queen from Magnum Kings and Queens (of Dancehall). She is very lyrical. This collaboration with me and Safiyah, is celebrating African heritage and the connection between cultures. It’s about embracing roots and love and respecting each other,” Denz Asti said.

Denz Asti will only get bigger and better but I can’t do that without you. Love and respect every time,” he continued.
