Queen Ifrica Defamation Case Returns To Court On November 6

The family of ska legend Derrick Morgan is hoping that the next mediation exercise involving Queen Ifrica, real name Ventrice Morgan, will be markedly more successful than the first attempt a few weeks ago.
“Queen Ifrica just sat there and listened to what was going on and she kept her microphone on mute during the whole exercise, so we’re not sure what, if anything, was accomplished,” a family member, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told DancehallMag.
“We hope that the next mediation will have more dialogue and hopefully lead some sort of resolution.”
The mediation exercise was held in the defamation lawsuit, Derrick Morgan v Ventrice Morgan. The Rougher than Rough singer is alleging “reputational damage for false allegations” Queen Ifrica made against him in 2023.
The defamation lawsuit was filed in June 2024 by the Morgan family against Morgan’s daughter, ‘Queen Ifrica’. The family is reportedly demanding a public apology from the Lioness on the Rise singer.
The case moves on with a case management session on November 6 in the Supreme Court of Jamaica. This step is a court-scheduled session where parties come together to brief the court on the status of a case.
Charles ‘Advoket’ Ganga-Singh, who is representing the ska great, reserved comment in the case as the matter is sub judice , which prohibits the publication of statements which may prejudice court proceedings.
Queen Ifrica has retained counsel, Seymour Stewart, to represent her.
According to the defamation suit, Queen Ifrica made several allegedly defamatory statements, videos and interviews on August 1, 2023. In the video in question, Queen Ifrica revealed that as a child, she had an estranged relationship with Morgan due to issues surrounding her mother.
However, as an adult, she attempted to reconnect with him.
Queen Ifrica allegations described a specific incident at Derrick Morgan’s Kingston residence which has befuddled the family, friends and neighbors of Mr. Morgan. Shortly after the video was published, Morgan’s lawyer sent a cease-and-desist letter to Queen Ifrica requesting its immediate removal and apology.
Instead, Ifrica published another video weeks later with hyperbolic allegations attacking Derrick Morgan and making false statements about him on social media, the lawsuit alleges.
