‘Bob Marley: One Love’ Wins ‘Best Reggae Album’ At 2025 Grammy Awards

The Bob Marley: One Love – Music Inspired By the Film album has won the 2025 Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album.

Presenter Queen Sheba announced the winner during the 67th Annual Grammy Awards premiere ceremony, which was held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 2.

The soundtrack album came out ahead of Collie Buddz’ Take It Easy, Shenseea’s Never Gets Late Here, Vybz Kartel’s Party With Me, and The Wailers’ Evolution.

Released in February 2024 via Tuff Gong and Island Records, the 10-track album featured fresh interpretations of Marley’s iconic songs, performed by artists like Daniel Caesar, Kacey Musgraves, Wizkid, Leon Bridges, Shenseea, Farruko, Jessie Reyez, Mystic Marley, Bloody Civilian, and Skip Marley.

The album reached No. 10 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart.

The One Love film, directed Reinaldo Marcus Green, starred Ben Kingsley-Adir as Marley, Lashana Lynch as his wife Rita Marley and James Norton as Chris Blackwell.

The Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album, which “recognizes excellence in albums of reggae music, including roots reggae, dancehall and ska music,” had 75 entries late last year, up from 65 in 2024.

The nominations and award are bestowed to “albums containing greater than 75% playing time of new reggae recordings.”

The winning album’s featured artists, producers, and engineers are also eligible for the award if they contributed to more than 50% of playing time on the project, the Recording Academy stipulates.

Last year, the award went to Julian Marley and Antaeus’ Colors Of Royal.

In 2023, the award went to Kabaka Pyramid’s The Kalling. American reggae band SOJA‘s album Beauty In The Silence won in 2022, while Toots & the Maytals’ Got To Be Tough emerged as the winner in 2021.
