Kraff, real name Tevin Randall, is now awaiting a court date after being arrested and charged with a traffic violation and disorderly conduct.

A source within the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) told DancehallMag that the incident occurred earlier today (April 24) in Half Way Tree, St. Andrew, between the Sleep Walk deejay and members of the Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch.

“It arose out of a traffic stop and he became disorderly,” the source said. “He was arrested and taken to Half Way Tree Police Station, where he was processed and released,” the source added.

Several videos of the incident have been making rounds on social media.

Kraff can be seen being ordered from his white Mercedes Benz motorcar before matters escalate.

Kraff is one of the most streamed rising artists in Jamaica, with songs such as Rum Behavior, CalmCDineroSinna, and SleepWalk (BuduChop).

A self-described ‘Trap Dancehall’ artist, he has said that he sees the new wave of artists as a “conscious rebellion.” “Fi we generation have access to nuff information, so wi reason pon a different level and a dat people attracted to,” Kraff told the Observer in 2022.

At the time, he shared an outline of his career aspirations, aiming for a blend of mainstream success and hardcore roots. “Who say me can’t have both?” he asked. “Yeah, mi want a deep connection to mi listeners like Aidonia and Kartel, but me also want the opportunity to work with other genres and cultures and a broader and more diverse audience like a Shaggy and Sean Paul.”

“I’ve proven that I’m not a stranger to hard work. So you can expect me to continue pushing boundaries, you can expect interesting collabs, and some cross genre work,” he continued. “Yuh affi intentional; you affi consistent; and you affi break out ah di boxes weh people always try put you in,” he said.

His latest release is White Rum, which has over 432,000 views on YouTube.
