Queen Omega Looking Forward To Busy 2024 With New Album, Tours

Reggae singer Queen Omega says she is expecting to have a busy schedule in 2024, which includes working on a new album and undertaking a series of tours, especially across Europe and parts of North America. 

“I just give thanks that I’ve been able to be in this musical industry for two decades and I’m going strong.   I have this new thing buzzing right now (No Love dubplate); I have a new album working on a new album of course you always have to be doing new music so working on a new album soon to be released,” she revealed during a Bridge FM interview.

“For tours, this is looking good for 2024.  I’m going to be doing a serious run again back to Europe of course my one of my favourite place to tour and we have some new territories to come in for 2024.   Look out I’m going to be in the US as well.  So I’m going to be spreading my wings and spreading the joy and love through my music worldwide,” said the artist, who is known as the queen of reggae in her Trinidad and Tobago homeland.

Queen Omega, who hails from San Fernando, has more than two decades under her belt in Reggae music.  She however, started her musical career singing Calypso and Soca and thereafter delved into Reggae and Dancehall after becoming a Rastafarian.

In 2000, she took off to the UK to officially pursue her musical career, and released a self-titled debut album in 2001 before joining the Green House Family label.

Over the years, she has made her presence felt in Jamaica.  She first graced the Rebel Salute stage in 2004 and has also performed on Reggae Sumfest with Ninja Man, with whom she also teamed up with for the collab Bad Man Can’t Make Love back in 2002.

Bad Man Can’t Make Love was featured on her Pure Love album which was released in 2003.  That production also featured songs such as Many Mountains, I Believe in Love, We Can Make It, Hustle Up and Mouths must be fed.

She recorded parts of her seventh album Freedom Legacy in 2019 and also performed at Rebel Salute back then.

Freedom Legacy, which was released in 2023, carried 14 tracks, including a combination titled Oneness, which featured Julian Marley.  Among the other songs were See You Down, Fittest, Micro Chip, Wise Queens feat. Kushite & Jalifa, Love Your Way and Lioness.  

“That’s why I really came to Jamaica, to focus. And the mission was to get this album out…,” she told The Gleaner at the time.

Queen Omega’s interest in music was piqued at an early age.  She began entering local talent shows at age nine and even wrote her own songs and performed on national television.

She had a surge in popularity in the summer of 2023 after her No Love Dubplate, went viral.  The dubplate which became the second-most viewed Reggae/Dancehall video which premiered on YouTube in 2023, was later released for streaming by Sony Music on Friday, November 24.

The original No Love track, which was produced by Little Lion Sound was released in May 2022, gained just over three million views on YouTube, while the dubplate version has accrued more than 36 million views on the platform so far.
