Popcaan, Kranium And Jahmiel Pay Tribute To Late Nigerian Singer Mohbad

Dancehall artists Popcaan, Kranium, and Jahmiel have all paid their respects to the late Nigerian singer-songwriter Mohbad, who passed away on September 12, 2023.

The circumstances surrounding the death of the 27-year-old whose real name was Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba are still uncertain.

Popcaan showed reverence for the singer via Instagram story on Tuesday.

“Rip mohbad we see you, prayers to the family from the unruly state!! đź™ŹđźŹżđź–¤,” he wrote.

Kranium, on the other hand, sent a tweet to express sympathy at the untimely tragedy.

“Rip mohbad  đź•Š this is really sad my condolences to the family  #justice #blessing”

Jahmiel shared a screenshot of a brief interaction he had with the African artist in which he declared his admiration for him.

To which Jahmiel responded, “Respect my bro đź™ŹđźŹľâ€ť

Mohbad was laid to rest in Ikorodu, Lagos State on September 13, 2023. He was formerly signed to Naira Marley’s Marlain Records and left the label in 2022. He was best known for his hit singles PonmoFeel Good, and KPK (Ko Por Ke) and You Will Always Be Remembered) with Rexxie.

A candlelight procession and tribute will be on September 21, 2023 at the Muri Okunola Park in Nigeria to honour the late musician.

While a probe continues into the cause of death, the singer’s family issued a statement saying that they are, “open to provide any cooperation necessary to the authorities to carry out any investigations.”
