Shenseea Performs At ‘Dream Weekend’ Six Years After Serving As A Bottle Girl At The Event

Shenseea at Dream Weekend

“From a bottle girl to getting booked to perform!” said an emotional Shenseea on her Instagram page on Sunday after wrapping up an electrifying performance at The Campari Dream Weekend in Negril last night.

Starting off in the entertainment industry as a bottle service and promo girl for her manager Romeich Major, Shenseea returned to the very same summer event where she once worked six years ago. However, this time, the spotlight was on her as she graced the main stage as a headline performer at the Daydreams White Sands event.

During her set, the Blessed singer delighted her enthusiastic fans by performing several hits from her music catalog, including The Sidechick Song, Good Comfort, and Foreplay. But it wasn’t just about the music; Shenseea took a moment to reflect on why Dream Weekend was special to her.

“This is a big Campari moment, it’s special to me,” she told fans.

“Six years ago mi deh at dah same party yah a do bottle service. All White [party] Yeah, walk up and down and try to get as much tips as I could to feed miself and son and now mi deh yah and me get booked to perform. If that a nuh progress, mi nuh know what is.”

The Rebel singer made it clear that her success was the result of hard work and dedication, emphasizing that she never relied on handouts and expressed her pride in achieving her dreams through her own efforts. “A nuh my style dat,” she quipped.

Still overwhelmed by emotions, Shenseea shared her Dream Weekend experience with Instagram fans on Sunday, July 30.

“This was so emotional for me because I remember when I was a bottle girl serving the patrons at this specific event busting my ass to get as much tips as I could to feed myself and my kid,” she wrote.

“God has really brought me a long way and i’m so grateful for the support from my team and shenyengz. My journey has been a long one and I have much further to go. From a bottle girl to getting booked to perform! @dreamwknd … Follow your dreams, no matter what!”

The 26-year-old single mom has always been candid about her humble beginnings and rags-to-riches story.

Growing up, Shen’s mother was a single parent holding down jobs as a live-in helper and struggled to make ends meet. “Mommy was a single parent and worked and lived in jobs so during high school years I moved back and forth between relatives just to get a place to stay…. then drop out a college (financial problems)”, she revealed in May 2020.

The Run Run singer also shared that she got a regular job to help her mother build their home. “Me get a 9-5 and help me mother build a board house just to call our own, yes we were in the ghetto BUT a longtime me have ambition,” she said.

At 19, she had her son Rajeiro Lee and subsequently began working for Romeich.

Working as a bottle service girl at Dream Weekend back then had always been a standout moment for Shenseea. In May 2017, she reflected on that era as her ‘hustling’ days.

“Throwback to when I was a bottle girl at Dream Weekend…Hustler from long time…Most Outstanding Bottle girl. A nuh just now me a work hard …,” she captioned a photo on IG.

She continued, “Nuff people used to trouble me about my “fake slippers” weh look like “Bridget” and dem tired fi see me beat me one slippers and laugh afa me. But guess what! That didn’t stop me nor distract me from my work. I wear what I have to do what is necessary! Not once have i overstepped my boundaries to please society. Plus, I now have so many Bridgets I cant count, yet never showed them off. I still remain humble through it all.. A lot has changed, I have changed for the better but still as REAL as can be.”

“I am not a materialistic woman, never will be. I can only enjoy what this world has for me because when i’m gone none of it will be taken with me. I’ve worked too hard to be where I am…and will continue until I find no more reason to do so. God, my talent, work ethics, and personality will get me exactly where I want to be. #teamshenseea #IcanBeFamous #withoutbeingHYPE @romeichentertainment,” she added.
