Kemar Highcon Arrested For Grand Theft Auto In Florida

Dancehall artist Kemar Highcon, whose real name is Kemar Woodfine, was arrested in Florida on Friday (May 5) and slapped with a grand theft auto charge in the third degree.

The Margate Police Department made the arrest, but the circumstances are unknown.

The 32-year-old artist has been released on a $500 bond.

Grand Theft Auto is defined as when someone takes another person’s vehicle without the owner’s permission and with the intent to deprive the owner of the vehicle permanently.

For a Grand Theft to be considered a third-degree felony in Florida, the automobile stolen should be valued between $750 and $20,000. It can result in 5 years imprisonment and a maximum fine of $5,000. 

Efforts to get a comment from Highcon’s manager proved futile.

Kemar Highcon, 32, who lives in Stamford, Connecticut, dropped out of school after pursuing studies in criminal justice at the University of Phoenix in Arizona. After six years, he finally got his big break with So Saucy in 2019 and his follow-up Talk Bout, kept his momentum.

He soon landed sponsorship deals and became a Digicel and Pizza Hut ambassador.

Hailing from Portmore in St Catherine, Highcon (born Kemar Woodfine) attended St Jago High School in Spanish Town up to fourth form before migrating to New York City in 2006.
