Duos are a rarity in Dancehall. Successful iterations include Chaka Demus and Pliers, Tanto Mentro and Devonte, Daddy and Little Meeks, the now-deceased Captain Barkey and Wickerman, and perennial faves Tippa Lee and Rappa Robert. Fast forward to the 2020s, and the latest iteration of the one-two punch is that of Big12welve.

This fast-rising duo has teamed up with Skillibeng for their latest release, Money Conversations.

The pair, consisting of Abo Dan (Jemal Hutchinson) and Musa Dan (Nathanael Jones), has garnered over 302,000 views on YouTube in just a few short weeks since the release of the original.

They decided to leverage its success by collaborating with international dancehall star Skillibeng.

In a recent interview with DancehallMag, Big12welve’s label executive, Akim Larmond, revealed that the inspiration behind the remix was to create more awareness and show that Big12welve can perform alongside mainstream artists and showcase their talent without being overlooked.

The remix features Skillibeng’s signature flow, and the creative process was described as a “superb experience” by the duo.

The remix has already gained significant traction, with a visualizer accumulating over 169,000 views on YouTube in just two days. The single is now available on all major digital and streaming platforms, thanks to distribution by Johnny Wonder.

Speaking about the process, the duo revealed that the remix came about after their label executive recognized the vision and capability of the track. They then reached out to Skillibeng, who expressed interest in the project, leading to the official remix.

Despite being a relatively new outfit on the music scene, Big12welve is intent on carving out their own niche and fans can expect more exciting releases from the pair soon.
