Rvssian, Sean Paul And Danny Ocean Want To Rule The Summer With ‘No Me Controles’

The combination of renowned Jamaican producer and artist Rvssian, Dancehall megastar Sean Paul and Venezuelan sensation Danny Ocean is expected to turn things up a notch this summer with No Me Controles – a spicy bilingual anthem about healthy love, friendships and fun which was released yesterday (March 10).

The song, which translates to ‘Don’t Control Me,’ breaks from the summer tradition of music that encourages mindless partying and fun without restraint and realistically captures the sentiments of having said fun while respecting certain boundaries, even as freedom is exercised and praised.

The accompanying music video, shot in Kingston, Jamaica, showcases men and women enjoying nights of dancing, camaraderie, and good vibes with their respective friends. Directed by Rook, a US director famous for his work in the Miami Hip-Hop scene, the video is a feast for the senses with a saturation of colours and sensual camera movements that complement the song’s feel.

Rvssian, who has worked with Sean Paul before, is no stranger to merging Jamaican and Latin sounds. In fact, he’s essentially been perfecting the craft for some time now – a journey that began with his remix of “Passion Whine”, featuring Farruko.

That collaboration ultimately sparked a series of cross-Caribbean collaborations between Rvssian and various Latin artists, resulting in multi-platinum hits like “Sunset” with Nicky Jam and Shaggy, and “Privado”, which pairs Nicky Jam, Farruko, Arcangel, and his first Jamaican collaborator, Konshens on the vibrant track. So pioneering was the move that it gave birth and rise to a new subgenre in Latin music: Latin Trap, which made full use of the blueprint left by the unique sound of ‘Privado’.

Rvssian continued to solidify this sound with Si Tu Lo Dejas and the viral hit Krippy Kush, while also introducing the world to the naturally magnetic flow of global superstar, Bad Bunny.

Rvssian’s collaborations with Latin artists such as Rauw Alejandro and Tiago PZK, released through Sony Latin, have motivated him to continue working on new projects. No Me Controles, which has all the makings of a hit, comes as a song primed to be the catalyst for the upcoming spring dancing season.
