Dancehall star Agent Sasco has announced that he will be working on another album this year, and has asked his ardent fans for their input.

The Earth Strong artist shared a video of himself during what he said was “the very early stages of curfews and lockdowns in 2020″, when he, along with his band, did a livestream performance from Diamond Studios, where he performed the song Grateful, and said he wanted to have his new production be along similar lines.

“As I’m thinking about recording another album, this song #Grateful feels like kind of texture I want as the foundation for the project. What say you? Is there any other song of mine you would suggest as inspiration for the next album?” he asked.

In February last year, Agent Sasco, whose given name is Jeffrey Campbell, had said that he was working on new album, and had writing sessions for the album, which he wanted to complete by the end of summer, following which he would decide on the release date.

Agent Sasco has released four studio albums since he released his first single in 2000.   He released Infiltration in 2005, Gully Sit’n in 2007, Theory of Reggaetivity in 2016, and Hope River in 2018.

Theory of Reggaetivity, following Sasco’s Hip Hop collaborations with Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar, featured a collab with Chronixx.  The Camperdown High School old boy had toured sections of Europe and the US in support of the album prior to its release.

The acclaimed album, which featured mainly Reggae tracks, by the second week of its release, ascended to number three on the Billboard Reggae Albums Chart, and number two on the iTunes Reggae Chart.  The 14-song album included songs such as the title track Theory of Reggaetivity, Feel Highrie, Mix Up, Health and Wealth, Africa, No Slave featuring Chronixx, Stronger, Day in Day Out and Country Bus.

The Hope River album which was named after the river, which runs thorough his community, was another 14-track album.  Inspired by Sasco’s life as a little boy growing up in Kintyre, St. Andrew, it debuted at number four on the Billboard Reggae Album Chart.

It included tracks such as Banks of the Hope, So Blessed and Mama Prayed, a collab with gospel singer Glacia Robinson.  His other collaborators on the album’s tracks included Stephen Marley, Spragga, Kabaka Pyramid, Dre Island, Wayne Marshall, Chevaugh, Queen Ifrica, Tony Rebel, Romain Virgo and Jah Vinci.

In 2003, Agent Sasco, who went by the moniker Assassin then, blossomed fully in the Dancehall arena with We A De Roughest, How We Roll, Girls Gone Wild and Step Pon Dem.

He followed up with songs such as As A Man on the ‘Sleepy Dog’ rhythm, Same Thing Again, Money Machine featuring Sadiki and Anywhere We Go on Dave Kelly’s ’85’ rhythm.

He has appeared on most major festivals such as Sting, Reggae Sumfest, and Follow Di Arrow, and at major reggae festivals in Europe.

Back in 2010, after sustaining a broken leg in a football match, the deejay learned how to play the guitar.   He subsequently played the guitar and sang on a single titled Love You, which, according to The Star, introduced the Kintyre native “to an entirely different audience and garnered rave reviews from music critics, especially those in Europe”.

In 2011, he released Run the Place on the ‘Run Di Place’ rhythm for his own label, Talk How Mi Feel on DJ Frass Production, that went to number one, and Nothing At All for Big Ship Records.

Along with his brother Gareth Campbell, Sasco established Boardhouse Records in 2008.  The label also scored internationally with Nuh Linga which peaked at number 67 on the Billboard R&B charts in 2009.   He recorded Bounty Killer’s Ready Fi Dem on the ‘Run Di Place’ riddim in May 2011.

In 2013, he was featured on Kanye West’s song I’m in It on the rapper’s his 6th solo album Yeezus.  Also, in February 2015, Kendrick Lamar featured him on the track The Blacker The Berry.  That track was certified gold after selling over 500,000 copies in April of that year.
