The Queen of Rap Nicki Minaj was in high spirits after meeting Skeng in New York to shoot a music video for their collab, Likkle Miss (Remix).

The rapper took to Instagram to share a reel of herself sitting on a couch with the Dancehall artist.  “Y’all, guess who I just stumbled upon? You will never believe it…look,” she said before turning the camera on the Protocol deejay who had his “Fendi prints on”.

Skeng held up a hand sign and uttered: “Maddest life yuh haffi understan dat.”

Over the last few months, the Barbie Dreams rapper has publicly endorsed Skeng as one of the most talented lyricists to emerge from Jamaica. Expectantly, the two teamed up on Skeng’s Likkle Miss track which was released on Sunday. Minaj, who is originally from Trinidad also gave the 21-year-old Jamaican deejay a shoutout during her Vanguard Award acceptance speech on Sunday night.

Jon Baker, the owner of Geejam Music, which recently signed Skeng, confirmed on Instagram that the music video for Likkle Miss will be partly shot in New York.

“Boarding a flight now from London to New York to shoot the video 🔥🔥🔥,” Baker wrote on Sunday.

The Likkle Miss remix was added as track 2 to the Queen Radio album on Sunday, though the collection was officially released on Friday (August 26). The remix credits a host of additional writers, namely, Sebastian Loers, Antonio Lynch, and Rowan Melhado (Drop Top Records), along with Kevon Douglas (Skeng) and Nicki Minaj (real name Onika Maraj).

Skeng’s manager Cara Vickers said he and Minaj’s relationship developed organically.

“In this day, social media has facilitated accessibility to people. They speak regularly via direct message on social media and phone,” Vickers told the Jamaica Observer. “Nicki has shared advice and encouragement to Skeng. They also have mutual respect for each other’s craft.”

Fans of both artists seem to be loving the dynamic duo as is evident by the flood of comments under Minaj’s post.

London-based Dancehall artist Lisa Mercedes said, “Woiiiiiii, Barbie a skeng likkle miss 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🔥🔥🔥”

“She wa see skeng long time…. Finally she see him 😍,” added another fan.

“Ratty price gone up!! 🇯🇲🇯🇲” one more excited fan said.
