Ishawna, Ed Sheeran Release Their Dancehall Collab ‘Brace It’

Ishawna has officially inducted British pop singer Ed Sheeran in the Dancehall fraternity with their long-awaited collaboration Brace It. Produced by Cordel ‘Skatta’ Burrell, Donavon ‘Don Corleon’ Bennett, and Ishawna under her Legendary Records label, the new single dropped today, Friday, June 24.

With top Jamaican producers behind the production, Brace It has arrived on smooth rhythmic acoustics with hints of classic Dancehall sounds. The composition features prevalent guitar strumming, but there are hints from several old Dancehall riddims, including Dave Kelly’s masterful Showtime Riddim (the cheering crowd) and two of Tony ‘CD’ Kelly’s popular juggling riddims, Bookshelf (during the chorus) and Buy Out (at the beginning).

In the track, which was written by Cordel Burrell, Peter Harrison, Ed Sheeran and Ishawna, the Equal Rights singer stays true with her usually raw lyrical delivery, asking the Bad Habits singer to “slide and whine pon mi good up” to which he readily responds “brace it pon me”.

Showing his musical versatility, Ed doesn’t back down from the challenge, in issuing more verses in Jamaican patois. “I nah go, I nah go, I nah go leave you never. I nah go, I nah go, I nah go diss you never” he sings in his familiar silky tones on the hook.

The local fans are loving the mixing of these two very distinct artists.

“Shawna this is going to hit the world by storm,” said one fan. Adding, “This is going to change ur life n everything, 1million views in no time, international publicity only up from here big up Ed str888 outta Jamaica 🇯🇲💓😍😂😱🔥🔥🔥💯.”
