Spice Graces Cover Of Spotify’s ‘EQUAL: Women At Full Volume’

If you happen to be in Toronto, Canada you will notice the Queen Of Dancehall Spice on a huge billboard atop the Toronto Eaton Centre as the face of Spotify’s “EQUAL Women at Full Volume”.

The proud Send It Up singer, whose real name is Grace Hamilton, took to Instagram to share the news with her 4 million followers on Friday. “Watch little Gracie again pan billboard in Canada 🇨🇦 🇨🇦🇨🇦, So honoured to participate in this EQUAL @spotify @spotifycanada campaign. Women At Full Volume 🔊🔊🔊✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿💙💙💙” she wrote in the caption.

The 49-track playlist for EQUAL Canada features Spice’s smash hit So Mi Like It. It also sees Pamputtae and BAMBII’s NYCE as part of the lineup.

According to Forbes, Spotify launched the initiative last year, to highlight the women creators on its platform and working towards equity for women in the audio industry. It’s a “dedicated space to celebrate women creators and help increase awareness of their work among fans.”

So Mi Like It has surpassed 106 million views on YouTube and 54 million plays on Spotify. Produced by NotNice, the raunchy breakthrough, first released in 2014, was included on her debut album, 10, which was released last year.

“I was asked to pick one song from the past 10 years to go on the album. It was a hard decision, but So Mi Like It just hit different,” Spice had told DancehallMag last year. “You have to wine when you hear it. You have to just enjoy yourself. It gives you that burst of energy.”

In the meantime, Spice is also repping Jamaica as part of VH1’s Caribbean American Heritage Month. The Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta cast member alongside co-star Karlie Redd, who is representing Trinidad have definitely added flavour to the reality TV show.

In a short clip, also posted to Spice’s Instagram, the proud Jamaican entertainer is seen encouraging fans to drop the flag emojis from their country of origin.
