Dancehall star Popcaan is mourning the death of his Run These Streets collaborator Hypo, an East London-born rapper and producer, who was partly raised in Jamaica.

Popcaan took to Instagram to express shock and grief after Hypo, whose real name is Lamar Jackson, 32, was stabbed to death at a Jubilee Bank Holiday party, early this morning (June 3) at Ashton Town Playing Fields, in Chigwell Road, Woodford Green.

“Dunno how to accept this bro 😔😞,” he wrote on a 2019 photo of them that was posted to Hypo’s Instagram page. “I try to warn you about the wolves on these streets bro!!! Gang sh-t same way, love you bro 4L 🙏🏿 ☹️ @bigghypes east legend!!!”

The Badness rapper’s Instagram Stories show him en route to the event before he was killed.

There have been no arrests, but UK cops believe the incident may have been caught on video, and are appealing for anyone with footage or information to come forward.

“This man was attacked at a party and we know that a large number of people would have been in attendance. I would urge anyone who is yet to speak with us to come forward and let us know what you saw,” Detective Chief Inspector Laurence Smith said, according to MyLondon.  “It is possible that events leading up to the stabbing, and perhaps the murder itself, were captured on people’s phones. Please take a look and call us. It is vital that we establish what happened.”

Hypo recently celebrated his birthday and the rapper is believed to have gotten engaged last week.

Popcaan and Hypo teamed up for the Cee Figz & The Beat Boss-produced Run These Streets in 2018.  Shot in several locales in Jamaica, the official music video had featured both artists.

Poppy followed up his tribute with a clip of himself, Hypo and other entertainers socializing at the Gorillaz concert at the 02 Arena, just last August.

Hypo was one-third of the rap collective Mashtown which also comprises Asco and Margs.  His other songs include First Night, Passion 4 Fashion, All Summer, Flex On My X and Bussitdown.

According to his Spotify bio, Hypo spent a fraction of his life being raised in Jamaica. In the latter part of 2019, he made a series of IG posts during a trip to the island.  In fact, the very first photo on his Instagram feed is geotagged Jamaica with the caption, “Jus Touch E groun!!!!”

In the subsequent post, captioned “Plz Dnt Size Up, he’s seen with Popcaan and British rapper Fredo.

“Doin up Topless 😂😂😂💪🏾” he wrote under another post of himself.

Hypo’s Instagram was flooded with condolence messages after reports of his demise.

“This is a lie please lord,” one supporter commented on his last post, which was made on his birthday on April 27.

“Rest easy mate east legends never die 🙏🏽” said another fan.

“I can’t believe this 😪 R.I.P man 🙏🏽 💔💔”

It was a similar scene over on Twitter as fans tweeted heartfelt messages for the rapper.

“Another pioneer in the UK music scene passing before their time, so sad. RIP Hypo,” said @s1order.

“This whole Hypo news is mad f-cked. In his Instagram story he was just living his best life and having fun, later the same day his taken was taken from him.  What a sad tragedy” added @laclezette.
