Drill Rapper Ron Suno Remixes Skillibeng’s ‘Whap Whap’: Watch

After NBA Young Boy’s cover last month, Skillibeng’s infamous hit single Whap Whap has been remixed yet again, this time by Bronx drill rapper Ron Suno.

Suno, who is known as the “first comedian drill rapper”, rose to the occasion, appearing on the Wizical Beatz-produced Dancehall riddim for this own gangster’s tale. In his remix, the rapper spins the original hook “whap whap” to instead, “Empty out the Glock like … bap bap bap bap bap”.

The Benny Max directed visuals debuted on YouTube on May 14 and features the New Yorker on his stomping ground among a heavy entourage, energetically vibing and dancing in the city streets.

So far viewers have confirmed, “This was Mad Hype😳😳” and “He killed this song right here the energy was 🔥‼️,” in comments on the video. As for the Jamaican watchers, they couldn’t be prouder; “Ate the beat, proud Jamaican here🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲,” and “So proud to be a Jamaican honestly.🇯🇲” were some of their comments.

Ron Suno, 21, who insists, “I started drill, not going to lie,” when he embarked on a music career at 13, remains a prominent figure in the new wave of Brooklyn drill rap, which thanks to Pop Smoke (rest in peace), exploded into the mainstream scene. The rapper is known as the creator of the #WeaveChallenge (2017) and has been entertaining the masses with hilarious skits on social media.

Suno’s single titled Pinocchio went viral online in 2019, and even received a standout remix from West Coast’s very own Blueface – to bridge the West and East coast. The original song accumulated 15.8 million views on Tik Tok and now has 12.6 million on Youtube. Beyond the impact of Pinocchio, his other singles Spider-Man featuring Fivio Foreign, What They Gon Say, Grabba, GOAT, and Winners continue to cement his name on the Brooklyn drill scene.

Suno’s remix of Skillibeng’s Whap Whap featuring F.S, which now has 9.9 million views, is the second we’ve seen since the song premiered just 2 months ago on March 10.

LA rapper, YoungBoy Never Broke Again took a spin on the track last month issuing a 2:33-minute long remix of a similar concept of mayhem and gunplay as the original track. YoungBoy even added some Jamaican dialect in parts of the song – rapping in verses, “Boop Boop, gunsmoke my town, police dem a come, stupid bloodcla@twhile playing heavily on the hook, “whap whap whap whap whap whap whap.” Although the remix was released to much fanfare, the rapper has since pulled the track off streaming platforms.
