Dancehall artist Iyara is fresh from a vacation that saw him visiting far-off locales like the snow-laden landscapes of Alaska.

“I was there for like two weeks, more like a working vacation and the fact that Alaska is a distance away, I took the time out to introduce myself and my music to Eskimo. They had never heard of dancehall or reggae music before,” a laughing Iyara told DancehallMag.

“Ah the first time mi ah see wild moose, sled racing, polar bear running across the street and dem tings de. It was a real experience, it was below zero , sometimes 25 below zero. But mi still buck three yardman over de inna Anchorage, Eagle River inna Alaska,” he said.

Iyara said there was not much of a Dancehall scene in Anchorage, Alaska.

“The Alaskans love music, dem love live music inna the pubs and restaurants but the dancehall fraternity is not big, dem just start to tek on to Iyara, so while I was there, I was like an ambassador, trying to pull Alaska closer to dancehall and reggae music. Mi ah introduce some Eskimo to dancehall, next time mi go back ah big show, road black ah go gwaan,” he said.

He also recently performed at a show dubbed ‘Top Gyals and Ballers’ at a club in Fort Myers, Florida last week.

Dressed in a white shirt and a black pants, and his head wrapped in white, he dug out forwards for songs such as Yaadman Up Inna Farrin. He then segued into tracks such as Pressure Cooker, Big Belly Mattic, Nah Dweet, Rich and Wealthy and his latest release, Live Cash.
