Get-well wishes have been coming in for Mr. Lexx from his Dancehall compatriots, following a major respiratory issue that saw him ending up in the Andrews Memorial Hospital in St Andrew last night.

Mr. Lexx made the announcement on his Twitter page shortly before 7 o’clock this morning.

“Ten mins into my performance last night, my right lungs collapsed, went straight into surgery last night. I’m ok now I guess. Thanks, big up di docs at Andrew’s,” Lexx, 47 tweeted.

His post was later re-shared on Instagram by ZJ Sparks, who added her own wishes for full recovery.

Among those who wished the Full Hundred artiste a speedy and fulsome recovery were Spice, Alaine, Stylo G, Stacious, and his former nemesis Foota Hype, who had pummelled him with his fists during a fight at Weddy Weddy back in 2005, which was triggered by Foota’s comments about Lexx’s Taxi Fare collab with Mr Vegas.

“Glad u ok artiste strong up,” Foota noted.

Born Christopher Palmer, Mr. Lexx was once signed to VP Records and had a series of hits in the 1990s to 2000s, including Get Wid It, Full Hundred, Ring Mi Cellie, Cook, Stress, Clothes A Nuh Yuh Problem, Halla Halla, Let Those Monkeys Out, War Start, and Video Light, as well as his feature on Wayne Wonder’s Anything Goes, with American hip-hop duo Capone-N-Noreaga.

In 2000, Mr. Lexx’s album titled Mr. Lex spent five weeks on the Billboard Reggae Chart.

Mr. Lexx entered the music industry in the late 1990s, bearing the name Lexxus.  However, he switched to the moniker Mr Lexx in the early 200s, after Toyota warned him in a six-page letter, about infringing on their brand, and claimed that because of his growing popularity, it conflicted with their Lexus brand.

Born and raised in the Mountain View area of Kingston, Mr. Lexx is a former student at the now-defunct Fox Drama School in Kingston.  He first showcased his deejaying skills in 1992 at the popular Sunday night dances held in Kingston’s Harbour View area, which featured Super Dee sound system.

Back then, representatives from the New York-based label Natural Bridge Records who witnessed his performance brought him to the Mixing Lab recording studios in Kingston, where the then 16-year-old recorded his first single, Own A Home, an ode to independent women.

Mr. Lexx’s lung issue is the second major mishap to beset him in recent times.

In early November, he was detained by Panamanian Immigration officials upon arrival at the Tocumen International Airport in Panama City.   The officials had denied him access to the services of an interpreter and confiscated his phone.

At the time he said that he was held in an immigration room at Tocumen overnight and that the officials had threatened to bar him because he was arrested in the United States in 1997 and had given him “no chance to explain” and “no phone call”.

Mr Lexx later tweeted that his troubles were even more petrifying as he was calling the Jamaican consulate and “nobody nah pick up”.

He was later released after the intervention of Foreign affairs senator Kamina Johnson Smith and entertainment Minister Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange.
