Music fans are in for a huge treat this Friday when Dancehall star Shenseea and rapper Megan Thee Stallion drop their new track Lick.

“Get ready!! We gonna go crazy this FRIDAY!” Shenseea wrote on an Instagram share on Tuesday night with the exciting news.

It was just two months ago, in November that the Hot Girl Summer rapper made the declaration on social media that she “definitely” wanted to do a track with the Shenyeng Princess. This came shortly after the two had officially met at a BET Awards Show after-party in LA last year summer.

Since the announcement, the collab has been generating a lot of interest with the likes of actress Taraji P. Henson, commenting that she is “patiently waiting” for the single to drop, while Beenie Man reacted, “Guh fi dem Shen ❤️🔥”

Megan Thee Stallion, who is a fan of Dancehall music, already has one collaboration in the genre, having previously appeared with Popcaan on the song Intercourse in 2020. She also disclosed on Teen Vogue’s ‘The Playlist of My Life’ that Dancehall singer Dexta Daps’ single Bring It To The Owner secured the No. 2 spot on her playlist of all time.

As for Shenseea, she certainly knows how to keep her fans on their toes with these surprise international collaborations. She scored major points last August appearing in two tracks on Kanye West’s Grammy-nominated album, DONDA. She was credited for her songwriting and vocals on the tracks OK OK Pt 2 and Pure Souls featuring Roddy Rich, which peaked at No. 12 and 52 on the Billboard Hot 100, respectively.

Since drafting co-manager Wassim “Sal” Slaiby aka Salxo, who also manages celebs like The Weeknd and Doja Cat, Shenseea’s career has seen a huge boost. With this upcoming collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion on Friday (January 21) expectations are set on high.

Shenseea, who became the first woman to win the MOBO Award for ‘Best Reggae Act’ in 2021, is set to release her debut studio album sometime in 2022 under Rvssian’s Rich Immigrants label (a joint venture with Interscope Records).  Run Run and Be Good are the first singles from the still-untitled project.

It’s unclear if Lick will appear on the album.
