Lady Saw Had Lyrics Ready ‘From Pit Of Hell’ To Clash Another Artist At ‘Sting 2013’

December 26 will mark eight years since Lady Saw—now Minister Marion Hall—annihilated Macka Diamond on the Sting 2013 stage, in a clash that was highly anticipated by patrons of the Boxing Day event.

However, Minister Hall recently revealed that while she was ashamed of the lyrics that she spewed at Macka, in hindsight she was relieved that the clash was not against one of the other two female deejays, Spice and Tifa, who had been feuding with her at the time.

Hall said that God would have been even more displeased and the Devil would have claimed her, as she had prepared what she described as “lyrics from the pit of hell” to psychologically crush the other female deejay if she had dared to confront her at Sting.

“Satan himself came and he started using these women to pull me to this clash at Sting, and I said I was holding my mouth – the lies were flowing.  I sat and I saw women on the TV just lying bluntly – just like that,” Hall told Tamara McKayle on The Trailblazers show.

According to Hall, at the time her character was being maligned by her female musical compatriots, she was in the process of planning her path to return to the church, and so was placed on the horns of a dilemma.

“I said ‘God if this is a test, I am gonna fail it miserably’; that’s what I told the Lord,” the Give Me A Reason artist explained.   “When I did my interviews (and) I told them I’m gonna get baptized, people start laughing.  All hell broke loose with the women… and that was how I said ‘God I can’t hold this no more.  God I can’t hold my mouth no more.   They telling lies on me’,” the St Mary native said.

“And that’s when I started writing these lyrics.  But I wasn’t writing for one woman.  I was writing for three.  But God is a good God.  If a particular one had come, hell would have gotten me.  Because I believe the lyrics that I wrote for that particular one, they were from the pit of hell.  They were bad.  They were nothing like I did at Sting with that one woman,” she said.

Hall, who created a stir when she posted glamourous video clips of herself, from her upcoming single If I Was Famous/When I Was Famous earlier this week, had outlined to McKayle how badly she felt after the humiliating lyrical defeat of Macka Diamond.

“And when I was done at Sting, I felt like dog poop.  I felt like I disappointed God because he had a conversation in that bath,” the Room in My House artist relayed to McKayle.  “So I said ‘God don’t let go of me please’, because I wasn’t feeling the presence of God anymore after that Sting.   When I prayed I didn’t feel that sweet holy spirit no more.  I begged God not to let go of me until the funeral (J Capri’s) – he showed up,” she said.

At the time, Lady Saw was at odds with Spice, Tifa, and Macka Diamond, but after her baptism in 2015 following Dancehall artist J Capri’s funeral, in an open letter, she had asked the three women to forgive her for any transgressions she had committed against them.

“God said I should forgive my rivals. I forgive them and ask for their forgiveness. I love you, Spice. I love you Macka Diamond. I love you, Tifa. Forgive me if I hurt you. I let go of any animosity. We artistes were fighting for Satan. We wanted his crown. But our real crown is in Heaven for us.   What I was doing was not of God. Forget the devil and work for Jesus. Please, don’t take my joy, the joy that God has put inside me,” she had written.

In response to Hall’s open letter, Macka Diamond had also accepted her apology and request for forgiveness and proclaimed her love for her.

Spice had told The Star that she had already forgiven her former friend, and said she thought her conversion was real.  “The Lady Saw I know is a feisty woman. So I know that if she didn’t mean it, she wouldn’t come out and apologise. I have forgiven her and moved on. That is why I will always grow because I forgave her a long time ago… I know that if she wasn’t genuine, she wouldn’t come out and apologise. She would prefer to hiss her teeth and no give a hell so, I think it was basically real,” Spice had said.
