Stalk Ashley – Murda

Produced by ‘Darren Jaxx’ Jack and Christopher ‘Krs.’ Murda is a fan favorite from Stalk Ashley’s freshly minted debut, Excuses Pt. 1 EP from Atlantic UK/Warner/UK.  Ashley, who manages to routinely service her growing fan base with catchy songs, expresses deep relationship remorse through a series of regret-filled lyrics paired with a sultry, dispirited vocal cadence on Murda; all of which frames a union that did not age well.

Another standout from the EP, Sweet 16, stands at over 300,000 views.

Prince Swanny – Relentless

Trinbagonian Dancehall artist Prince Swanny dropped a new easy-to-listen-to ‘hol a meds’ single, Relentless. The single – which gets a nod from Popcaan in the intro – boasts lyrics like “young entrepreneurs, that mek dem jealous, every ends wi circle, yea, the links dem jus develop, every dog fi get dem own bone, jus to focus, keep yuh head up,” that promotes drive and determination.

The ZTEKK Records release is a subtlety presented on a mellow, scaled-back beat with allows the overarching message in the music to take precedent. The singjay preaches that with self-confidence along with persistence and humility you are likely to reap the desired rewards.

Squash – Deprivation

Beloved Mobay-bred Jamaican deejay Squash comes through with another popular single, Deprivation, for his very loyal fan base. The 6ix Real Records/Hemton Music production syncs seamlessly with the recognizable flow of the OG 6ix.

Deprivation, the lyrics of which bellows a mix of despondence and disaffection with both people and society, remains steadily gaining popularity for the wildly favored Squash, across multiple streaming options and other traditional formats.

Rytikal – Show Dem Up

Another assertive and beat-driven single, Show Dem Up, has arrived from vocally dexterous Jamaican deejay Rytikal. The artist effortlessly affixes deliberately town crier-styled lyrics atop a thumping ‘riddim,’ which carefully holds the listener’s attention long enough for Rytikal to disabuse any and all of his detractors of any misguided perceptions.

Popcaan – Money Speak

Popcaan’s new ‘party bop’ Money Speak carried a light breezy fusion of instruments, which culminate into a bounce-inducing Dancehall-Afrobeat hybrid beat from the veteran’s Unruly Entertainment outfit.

Charly Black x Teejay featuring Dancing Rebel – BAD

The forceful trio team for the new Dancehall-Afrobeat single BAD. The weeks-old track showcases Charly Black’s recognizable signature deejaying style with dance-inspired lyrics over the hybrid sound, paired with one of Dancehall-Reggae’s multifaceted singjays and son of Montego Bay, Teejay.

The new release added dance; remaining true to Dancehall’s culture of traditionally marrying songs with dance choreography, performer Dancing Rebel is introduced to visually demonstrate and complement the BAD single. The track is featured on Charly Black’s Rio Bueno album.

Runkus – vibes iii

Jamaican eclectic talent Runkus, once again, showcases his versatility on a new single, vibes iii. The hot-off-the-press track is a curious Dancehall-Hip Hop-Trap-Afrobeat fusion offering which is as the title suggests, a vibe.  The second-generation purveyor of music and most-times deejay incorporates singing and rapping on vibes iii.

Silk Boss – Nah Leave

Fan favourite Dancehall deejay Silk Boss released a new unambiguous and expressive relationship narration from producers Realbangrecords and Terro ChopCity.

Yaksta – Hype & Bruk

The self-styled ‘Bush Lawd’ released another introspective single, Hype & Bruk, from Young Vibez Productions, TMI Records, Wuss Muzikk incorporated with Jukeboxx Records. The title of the track is explicitly showcased among the lyrics and the popular artist’s signature vocal styling.

Vybz Kartel – Really

Dancehall mainstay Vybz Kartel churned out another sure-to-be street anthem, Really. The single is released under the deejay’s Vybz Kartel Muzik banner, in conjunction with Aiko Pon Di Beat. The music maverick fields the question, ‘really,’ taking this turn to serve financial advice to his loyal and unwavering fan base.

Knaxx and Posh Morris – Higher

Hardcore singjay Posh Morris appeared among this week’s noteworthy singles with her latest single Higher.  She’s ably co-signed by duetting partner, deejay Knaxx, for the Jungle Jesus Entertainment production. The raunchy duo’s pairing is somewhat reminiscent of the classic vocal dueling style of Dancehall’s classic Ramping Shop.
