Coolie Dance producer Skatta Burrell has issued a second word of caution to Jamaicans, including Dancehall and Reggae entertainers about egging on their poorer compatriots to engage in street demonstrations, this, in stark contrast to the stance of his musical compatriot Tanya Stephens.

In the aftermath of the United Independent Congress’ short-lived protest in Downtown Kingston on Wednesday, which resulted in the arrest of its leader politician Joseph Patterson for breaching COVID-19 rules, Skatta made an ominous post on his Instagram page.

“Aiding one Political party to topple another makes no sense. Where are the credible replacements?  Blind leading blind is all I see,” Skatta’s post stated.

“When the real mayhem starts I hope we can handle it. There’s a lot of Criminal entities sitting and waiting to pounce as soon as this Society turns into utter warfare and chaos,” he added.

The Downsound executive also had some advice for followers who sought to accuse him of genuflecting to Jamaica’s present political leaders and their proxies, pointing out that he was in the business of securing generational wealth and nothing else.

“I’m over politics business over all. Don’t forget the 12 months ago this said ruling Government won a landslide victory against the opposition and majority of the People came out to vote because they were given small incentives,” Skatta wrote in a lengthy response.

“The minds of the Masses are not ready for the real changes because they still under a slave mentality and as soon as they are offered something from next year’s budget to calm them down we will all see them going back home back to the plantation,” he added.

Skatta also said that many politicians were simply jockeying for political power, had no genuine care for the people of Jamaica, and no clear plan for national development.

“There’s no solution because getting rid of one set of vultures to insert another is just running in circles.  I’m Yet to see a solid Person step up for the People who can garner genuine support from the masses. Everyone has political agenda that only serves them and dem friends. This country is and will always be in serious political divide,” the Calabar High school old boy stated.

His election result data though, were repudiated by  comrade_richie, who noted that the results of the 2020 general elections were contrary to what he had stated.

“@skattaburrell majority of the people? over 64% of the electorate did not vote. The current government was elected with 24% to the 12% for the opposition. Hardly a mandate or landslide,” he countered.

Skatta found support from biggdanmedia and iam_bettypelps who said that the protesters who were not aligned to the UIC were unwittingly exploited by the political party, which took advantage of the fact that people were fed up with the behaviour of the Andrew Holness administration.

“Thank you @skattaburrell these groups that were there with the @uicjamaica and Joesph Patterson all they did was play to the script of UIC…,” biggdanmedia wrote.

“He’s using y’all but unno just naw see. He’s no different from the others. What are his plans for the people and the country? When all 63 MP resign then what??? He has no solution either just trying to gain followers by playing on y’all emotions,” iam_bettypelps argued, to which Skatta responded; “@iam_bettypelps you intelligent respect Jah”.

Also in agreement was ahmenvibration, who, among other things, took exception to the labelling of all persons who opposed the mandatory vaccination “anti-vaxxers” and the lockdown measures which he said have utterly failed.

“I’ll agree on this, and it’s simple 1.2.3. This is politics! Many of the ppl at this protest just want freedom of choice! when ones are very disgruntled, that anger will override the ability to think straight and get you deeper in the state you trying to get out!” he said.

“The ppl Will accept a dog to lead them right now, because there’s no leadership in this country currently! All we seeing is dictatorship, medical tyranny, draconian lockdowns, economic collapse, everything rising in prices and no solution/s! The lockdowns are clearly not working, none of them worked… It’s like a prison break when the place open, everywhere jam packed!

Tanya Stephens’ response to the protest, was a far cry from Skatta’s.  According to her, she made up her mind to join the proceedings and then met up on several stumbling blocks upon arrival.

“When I first heard of the march I was in. Then I saw the UIC’s list of demands and I opted out,” she noted on Instagram.   “Last night I became aware of the JCF’s threat to our democracy and this morning when I woke up I decided again I’d go on the march. I had one stop to make prior to joining, and I asked one of the men from the UIC for a location pin. Every angle I tried to approach the location from was barricaded…,” she stated.

“I stand with the UIC against lockdowns and mandatory vaccinations. I am not a member of the party and we don’t agree on every point, but on this we are aligned. Brute force is earning Andrew Holness the disdain of the populace and brute force will also be the way he falls,” she added.

She also posited that the actions of the police who detained Patterson, was tantamount to a ‘flying of the gate’ for the Prime Ministerial aspirant.

“Joseph just needed a crack to get in…they opened the door and hauled him in. The rest is up to him after this unlawful arrest. I want all of you to think beyond your affiliations. In what type of society do you need the leader’s permission to protest the leader????” the Rebelution artiste said.

Skatta had given his first warning about not egging on protests five weeks ago after he recovered from a bout of COVID-19.

“It’s hard out here for a lot of Folks especially those who are not financially stable enough to stock up on food and supplies for days and it’s time those who are encouraging them to be rebellious and create mayhem over the rules to step up and create a fund to assist those who are facing hardships,” Skatta had noted on IG.

“If you not going to show up at the Police Station with Bail money and Lawyers to free the People DO NOT ENCOURAGE THEM TO DEFY THE SYSTEM. It’s unfair to encourage poor People to fight your battles and you are not out there on the frontlines putting up resources to aid them when the system claps back…,” he added.
