The Energy God Elephant Man hilariously relayed some of his top moments in the music industry in a recent interview, among them a tete-a-tete with King of Pop, Michael Jackson, and J-Lo’s crashing at his feet on the red carpet whilst in her excitement to meet him at the 2004 BET Awards.

Elephant Man told veteran journalist Teino Evans on his Next Frideh show, that he was extremely nervous whilst on his way to the red carpet affair, to which he had been invited by Janet Jackson to perform their All Nite (Don’t stop Remix).

He said even though he had hit songs such as Pon di River and Signal Di Plane, which were scorching the charts, he was not expecting such a thunderous greeting from the superstars in attendance, upon his arrival.

“Dem time deh, a me and Janet Jackon a guh perform and mi have mi team behind mi… and dem time deh mi sign to VP/Atlantic Records,” Elephant explained. “Mi guh suh boom and touch di red carpet and everybaddy a guh crazy. When mi do suh and duh di interview an a guh dung  Jennifer Lopez seh: ‘Elephant!’ and drop pan har long skirt.  A me haffi seh come Mumma, teck time nuh Jen-Jen…”

A few days ago, Elephant Man posted a snippet of his performance with Janet at the Awards, on his Instagram page and declared himself, among other things a legend and the King of Dancing.

“I have to say I give you thanks Lord for all you have done for me in this music 🎶 you give the people Elephant Man and this is what he did dance hall to the fullest,” he wrote. “BET we take it world wide when you say Elephant Man you say Dancehall you say legend you say king of dancing so please tell dem don’t try size up.  Dem have a lot of work to do an put in you feel dancehall stop round so be to di f-cking world 🌎”

“This is what Elephant Man do the list of tren we set you feel a no little joke ting a energy gad dat dancehall at its best,” he added.

During the interview with Teino, Elephant Man whose given name is Oneil Bryan, also spoke excitedly of the telephone conversation he had with Michael Jackson after the event, which has been described as “Epic” by the BET.

According to Elephant Man, he was shocked, yet ecstatic, when he realized that it was the world’s greatest performer at the other end of the line.

“When Janet Jackson sen fi me right, and when wi do di BET awards and mi come outta di back – show mash up, 50 cent dem an everybaddy deh a di front a di stage – when wi inna di dressing room, an everybaddy a jump up and “great show, great show’, Janet seh; ‘Ele, the phone’”

He said he hear Michael saying: “Ele, thank you. You don’t know what you did for Janet man.  I love what you did for my sister.   That show was great’”.

Michael’s appreciation expressed to Elephant Man, might have been seen by him, as a redemption for Janet, as it came on the heels of her Superbowl half-time show scandal with Justin Timberlake, which had left her embarrassed after her breasts were bared on television.

Elephant said when he asked who was on the line and Michael said it was him, he could not contain his excitement.  He said Michael gave a soft chuckle when he realized that Elephant had recognized his voice.

“An him a say I love the music: ‘I see nuff dance before, but I never seen a dance like this”.

According to Elephant, from that day he knew that he had reached the heights of greatness.

“An from deh suh me seh to myself seh now: ‘Father God’ as a likkle bwoy weh a come from Seaview, weh we grow up and know she dis is di King of Pop di man weh introduce dancing, di man weh like Father God touch him with bout 50 hand with talent, come pon my phone – Oniel Bryan phone, and congratulate me on mi performance, big me up, sing piece a Pon Di Riva, know di whole ting and di work and di energy weh Elephant Man put een, dat mean seh my ting bless,” he said.
