Chronixx Cancels New York Show
Chronixx is the second Reggae revival artist to withdraw from/cancel a US concert, in less than three weeks.
It comes in the aftermath of his compatriot Kabaka Pyramid and his Bebble Rockers Band who withdrew from the Rebelution-led Good Vibes Summer Tour of the United States, for two weeks, as “was a part of precautionary measures in keeping with the CDC’s recommended COVID-19 protocols”. However, Kabaka Pyramid and his band returned to action last Saturday, at the Britt Pavilion in Jacksonville, Oregon.
On Monday, Chronixx revealed on his Instagram page, that his highly-anticipated concert slated for New York had been cancelled.
“Due to circumstances beyond our control our September 6th concert at the Brooklyn Mirage has been cancelled. We appreciate everyone who bought tickets and made plans to attend. Thank you always for showing us love,” his post read.
“Massive love to my family all over world and especially the family in NYC. The almighty is carrying us,” the Chronology artist also noted.

The concert advertisement which was posted online had noted that Chronixx and The Zinc Fence Redemption Band would make “their highly anticipated, Brooklyn Mirage debut on Sept 6th”.
It also noted that “this is an outdoor event and therefore proof of vaccination is currently not required for entry. This is subject to change, pending any additional guidelines from the city or health officials”.
Chronixx did not elaborate further, but some of his fans assumed that his withdrawal had to do with COVID-19 restrictions, one fan surmising that even if his event did not require patrons to be vaccinated, the city had shut down the event “because NYC as a whole is requiring vaccines to attend any event’.
“@itsjustkuroi the show was outdoors and didn’t require proof of vaccine or masks,” themattkelly10 said but this was countered by mossbycre8tion, who wrote: “@themattkelly10 they’re still requiring proof for some outdoor events in nyc” and another commented who noted that: “I saw that initially too but they also mentioned that guidelines could be subject to change. I guess they did.”
“Thank you tor standing against mandates and madness!! Big upp and big love,” itsjustkuroi wrote.
Others argued that Chronixx would have a hard task performing in the US or elsewhere in the world as vaccination was now a requirement globally.
“He’s free to perform anywhere else he wants. Yet everywhere else is also requiring vaccines. Stay home and do nothing if that’s what you want,” fromwestindies said, before adding: “Go elsewhere if you don’t like vaccine mandates. He can’t even perform in JA. If he wants to perform here, he must follow the rules. Love Chronixx and reggae overall, but Jamaica is going wild with its anti-vaccine stance.

In April 2020, Chronixx had declared on Instagram, among other things, that he was highly skeptical of the international going-ons relating to the COVID-19 pandemic which he labelled a ‘circus’, and in defiance, would not be doing any online concerts.
He later relented and performed his first online concert in August 2020, which toasted his genre-bending song Cool As The Breeze/Friday and was live-streamed on YouTube and Facebook.
