Dancehall artist Charly Black has been tapped to make the official theme song for CONCACAF’s Gold Cup.

The Party Animal singer will join Colombian Latin Pop Music urban duo, Cali Y El Dandee to perform Juega — the official song of the tournament. El Dandee co-produced Luis Fonsi’s major hit Despacito which is the most streamed YouTube music video surpassing 7 billion views.

Artist manager Julian Jones-Griffith explained that Black is the first Jamaican artist to be chosen to make a theme song for the competition. He confirms that the music video for Juega is already filmed and will be released in the coming days.

“When the request came in to get Charly on the track we didn’t hesitate. This song will be played constantly throughout the tournament and in highlights, so the mileage Charly will get from it will be immeasurable,” he said.

“It’s a very catchy and positive song too, that blends Spanish and English so hopefully it can become an anthem. As CONCACAF is a blend of Spanish-speaking and mainly Caribbean countries it fits really well and we are proud Charly was asked to represent Dancehall and Jamaica on the track,” Jones-Griffith added.

The 2021 CONCACAF GOLD CUP starts July 10 to August 1 and will see 16 teams competing for the confederation championship in the USA.

Jones-Griffith also said, “Ever since Party Animal blew up Charly has had a huge following in the Latin music space so he is definitely the right artist for this collaboration that blends cultures and genres, to reflect the Gold Cup itself.”

Charly Black who has been making the rounds and recording collaborations in the Reggaeton circles said, “It’s a massive look for me and for Dancehall. I have been shown crazy love by the Latin music market and fans and this hopefully will add to that. Cali Y El Dandee are mad cool so it was even better to know I would be working with them on the track.”

With his eyes set on waving the Jamaican flag high and being a part of the Gold Cup experience he further stated,  “The Gold Cup is something Jamaicans always get behind to support the Reggae Boyz so hopefully this swells the patriotic pride a little more to know we are represented on the Official Gold Cup song. The Latin music market is massive so being able to tap into it is a blessing.”
