Sean Alaric hails from Miami and has been making waves in Jamaica and the US with his distinct Dancehall and fusion productions. You may know his sound from Koffee’s GRAMMY Award winning Rapture EP, having produced Throne with Echo Slim and Nicko Rebel.

He’s also frequently collaborated with Khxos on everything from Dopamine to the Melanin EP, and produced Bad off Teyana Taylor’s The Album, her debut project on Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. (Getting Out Our Dreams) Music. Most recently, he worked with Jesse Royal on his sophomore album, Royal, producing five tracks of the 11 tracks including LionOrder featuring Protoje and Dirty Money featuring Ghanian dancehall artist Stonebwoy.

DancehallMag had the pleasure of chatting with him briefly about his inspirations, impact, and what’s next. Get familiar with one of Pembroke Pine’s finest.

Your sound is eclectic but distinctly dancehall. What inspired and influences you?

Life inspires and influences me. I grew up in Florida, which in itself is a melting pot of cultures, but I also grew up on dancehall. Blending different sounds and genres is a reflection of myself and my experiences.

How has winning a GRAMMY impacted your music career?

Winning the Grammy has given me a new confidence in my work, showing me the all the years of hard work are paying off. It’s also helped bring more attention to me as a producer and opened doors to working with some great artist & producers.

What was it like working with Jesse on the Royal project?

Working on the “Royal” album with Jesse has been an amazing experience from start to finish. My first time meeting Jesse is when we worked on LionOrder, I was introduced to him by Jason Panton. From there we developed a good chemistry and was able to complete 80% of the album, along with Vision Alexander who also played a major role in the creative process. The response as a producer has been great. This album has allowed me to showcase myself as a producer, producing over half of the album.

You’ve worked with everyone from Koffee and Khxos to Protoje and Teyana Taylor. Who are some of your favorite artists to work with, and who would you like to work with?

I enjoyed working with all of them. Each artist brings out different ideas and different sounds. A lot of times they bring with them different lessons, lessons that help you grow in your career. I would love to work with more international artist from different genres. But for my personal love of 90s Dancehall & Reggae, I would also like to work with some of my favorites from that era.

What’s next for you, music-wise?

I’m always working on new music and I have a couple releases on the way. But most of all creating new material with my team, new opportunities can come up at anytime and we have to stay ready.
