Dancehall artist Konshens says he and his wife Latoya Wright have been trying to break up for two years, but so far they appear to be unsuccessful.

Konshens sat down with the Lip Service podcast for a candid conversation about his sexual experiences, dealing with other women, and the ups and downs of married life.   The singer’s on-again/off-again relationship with Wright, who he repeatedly claimed on the show to be the only woman he’s ever been in love with, has played out in the public eye for years.

Lip Service is an award-winning podcast run by Angela Yee who also co-hosts The Breakfast Club with DJ Envy and the now controversial Charlamagne tha God. The Podcast talks sex and relationships with the hottest stars in hip-hop and R&B and is co-hosted by Lore’l and Gigi Miguire. Past interviews include artists Latto, Saweetie, King Von and Dancehall Queen Spice.

During the forty-five-minute session, Konshens was quizzed on various aspects of his sex life. He admitted to losing his virginity before high school and having a hard time opening up and trusting women because as a youth he had multiple affairs with married women.

“The way I’ve experienced women, it’s hard for me to open up,” he revealed, “even with my wife it took her a while for me to be like, yo… this person really love me- the person.”

Though he didn’t shy away from speaking about his interactions with other women, he maintained that he did not date anyone other than his wife and any other interactions have been just ‘pull ups’.

‘The only time sex affects me mentally is with my actual relationship,” he admitted. “Rest of the time I’m just f-cking.”

In 2019 Latoya, who shares a son with the Dancehall sensation, took to social media and said that she was now single although they  seemed to reconcile later on that year.

They again declared a split in 2020. At that time the couple had only been married three years. Earlier this year, they reunited to celebrate Wright’s birthday.

Konshens admitted that he and Wright have been attempting to break up for two years but hadn’t been able to. This fact led host Yee to reference the term soulmates for their relationship.

When asked by co-host Lore’l if he believes in having rules during a separation period, Konshens replied, “there’s no rules for that if we separated.”

He went on to state “wild shit happened with me. It’s not like we came to agreement. Bruk’ up, mash up, ‘f-ck you this is over’, we split up… so yuh can’t complain.”

It seems these days that Konshens is attempting to live in his truth and have an honest relationship with the public and his partner Latoya who he describes as a very mature, expressive, and open-minded person. And if you think he’s embarrassed by the world’s perception of his public ups and downs, think again.

He shared some deep insight with the ladies of the show and threw a little shade at the hecklers. “People don’t understand what in love is. When sh-t go on in the media I’ll see people, men who in comparison to me have zero experience with women try to make it look as if I’m soft for being in love and I’m laughing ‘cause most time your girl is in my DM.”
