Dancehall Queen Carlene Smith celebrated her birthday over the weekend.

Smith, who turned 48-years-old on Saturday (May 1) was treated to a surprise birthday dinner organized by her daughter Crystal Davis.

The former DHQ shared videos from her special day on her Instagram noting that she was surprised by her daughter’s kind gesture adding that she had only anticipated simply getting Chinese take out.

“Thank you my beautiful daughter @crystal.cd for an awesome date. My surprise dinner was fantastic and way more than I expected,” said Smith on her Instagram feed as she shared video footage from the festivities

“Thought you were just going to order Chinese food and give me in the container,” she added.

Smith was flooded with birthday wishes by members of the entertainment fraternity, with the likes of Macka Diamond, Tifa, Dalton Harris and deejay Sparks using the social media platform to say happy birthday to the woman known for popularizing the butterfly dance.

Even Smith’s former flame and father of her daughter, Beenie Man, took to the platform to add his voice to the many who wished her a happy birthday.

“Sending Earthday blessings to the mother of my beautiful daughter Crystal Davis, Dancehall Queen Carlene. Blessings & love,” wrote Beenie Man on the platform.

A grateful Smith has since thanked those who wished her a happy birthday, in particular she reposted a video birthday greeting from her long time friend and dancehall artiste Macka Diamond

“Big up my friend Macka diamond for this very cute and special big up also want to thank all my well wishers for my birthday big ups love u all, ” said Smith.

Smith rose to national attention in 1992 when she was crowned Dancehall Queen.
