Just days after dropping his new Intence collab, Dancehall star Govana is back with an uplifting reasoning on Big Dreams. The Quantanium Records cut is a stern warning to the ambitious — beware “mankind unkind, wicked and covetous.” Directed by US-based team Kingpride Productions whose credits include Alkaline’s Nah Fi Like, the new video walks us through the daydream of an ambitious youth eventually killed over his aspirations.

Previous songs like Loyalty and Undefeated tackle reality from Govana’s striking perspective and Big Dreams is no different. The man who once said Humans And Monsters Are Not The Same, also knows that some of them “well wicked like a leap year”, and he delves into some harsh truths on the new song.

“Use to wonder why no matter how me happy, from me see dem like me sad, spirit get cross,” he spits, among other quote and caption worthy bars like “Devil was an angel, who can we trust.

The visuals begin with a youth waking up to unfamiliar lavish comforts: bling, beautiful women, big house, foreign car. As we follow him through a world he seems truly surprised to be in, Govana appears throughout, dropping his bars. Just as the youth feels secure about everything before him, they disappear one by one as his big dream comes to an end, snatched away by “corrupt and covetous” hands.

At a little over three minutes the visuals are on point with Govi Govi’s storytelling, summing up the chorus well: “Dem p—y yah will kill you fi you ambition and yuh big dreams/ Nah fi own nothin inna life dem jus hate you cos yuh have a big dream/ Kill the youth fi him big dream/ Why you take away his big dreams?”

Even his solo swag in the clip, rocking swank blue Louis V and vibing with a spliff seems like a bid to lay low and steer clear of dream killers.

At 100K views and climbing, since its release earlier, it seems Govi Govi did it again. The Champ has already cracked Top 10 Youtube Trending in Jamaica, and 4th Genna/Strike Force fans are feeling every line.

“Video quality + lyrics = perfection ❤🇯🇲💥” one fan wrote, while another said, “Just listen the mn lyrics the man a talk facts🔥🔥”.

One user said of the track’s piano-led beat, “Lyrics good just wish he could have incorporated it on a more uptempo riddim”, while another who had no complaints whatsoever for the Cups Up deejay said, “Govana only drop hits 🔥💯.”
