Fantan Mojah has taken aim at Dancehall music selector Foota Hype, after reports surfaced on social media last week, that the self-proclaimed “Viral King” had slammed him for his contentious Fire King video, and labelled him an uncreative copycat for mimicking younger artists in the video.

While Foota did indeed make a video post titled Dancehall Bumboclaat Mash Up on his YouTube page Suhvyva Godcast last week, he had refused to call names of the artists he criticized in his hour-long monologue.  However, many commenters had immediately pinpointed Fantan as one of his targets.

On Wednesday Fantan in apparent retaliation, posted a video mocking Foota, whom he displayed with a pair of moving female red lips superimposed on his face, with Garnet Silk’s song Keep them Talking playing in the background, which he captioned: “Keep talking about me, Fire King”.

“Rasta you a do too much now.  Just do music and stop the f-kery,” one of his followers said asking him to refrain from demonstrating undesirable behavior.

Also issuing a stern reprimand was chagboss, who told the St. Elizabeth native that he ought to learn to take criticisms, and not be quick to take offense.

“@iamfantanmojah United we stand and divided we fall…  Just do good music and stop try style people.   You have to learn fi take criticism and no get in a you feelings.   Big up the viral king @footahypemusic real youth who continually contributes to our blackness…if @garnetsilkofficial was here him would burn a fire same way like how @footahypemusic @realmutabaruka burn the fire,” he wrote.

There were some followers, however, who joined Fantan in mocking Foota, over the song which has already put the Stronger artist in hot water and facing a possible court battle, with dub poet Mutabaruka.

“The other day I hear no one talk about this man has him get a hit song everybody deh Back hole crosses uno leave the man alone. Love you @iamfantanmojah,” one woman wrote.

In last week’ video, Foota Hype had slammed older artists whom he said were copying their younger counterparts, by doing salacious music videos and other things he considers immoral, in order to go viral.

“Now dat is where I think di artiste dem a lose it and den di artiste dem weh suppose to teach dem young artiste yah, how fi operate within di Dancehall space, a lose demself now an a run dung fi be viral… Why di artiste dem weh deh yah before dem likkle giddy-headed artiste yah, a lose demself now, an a try guh viral?” Foota had stated.

“An most a di artiste yah weh a lose demself, dem already have money.  Dem cannot bruck again.  Suh weh oonu a dweet fah?  Dat mean seh a nuh money meck oonu a dweet enuh.  It inna oonu natural aura; oonu a freak; oonu a bowers; oonu a f__got; a suh oonu stay,” Foota had said.

Foota had also praised other mature artists like Bugle, whom he said had not lowered their standards, despite reduced earnings, due to the pressure of not being able to go on overseas tours due to  the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Mi nuh understand.  Wha wrong wid oonu?  If yuh ask me, I am super disappointed in Dancehall, not only with the now Dancehall movement, but the elder dem weh feel like seh di young part a Dancehall a lef dem and dem need fi compete wid dem an a include dem nasty demonic behaviour inna di videos an oonu lyrics!” he added.

According to Foota, he was highly displeased that one particular veteran artiste had released a music video with two women kissing.

“Him neva have dat inna him career yet.  Fi him career neva dutty up yet, an now yuh career dutty up because people can guh look pony yuh catalogue and si seh now, you did a promote homosexuality inna dah video deh.  An you a big giant; yuh bus from when dem ting deh nuh exist inna di music.  How can you mek becaw di younger world a do dat, you guh do dat?” he said.

According to the Calabar High School old boy, these artistes had not only lost their souls, but no matter how explicit the videos are, they cannot help the songs to become hits.

“Caw afta yuh guh viral wid di nasty, derogatory ting deh now, di song nuh have a million streams pan iTunes.  It nuh have a million streams pan Spotify.  Weh di money deh?  Yuh naw meck no money an yuh lose yuh soul!” Foota added.
