Dancehall superstar Beenie Man has almost fully reverted to his once-slender frame and hasn’t been shy about sharing his success with his fans.  With his 19th studio album on the way, the 47-year-old has also revealed that he will be venturing into fitness fashion come April.

Beenie made the revelation on Instagram after a fan praised him about the fact that he had lost a lot of weight and his protruding belly, for which he was teased following the Verzuz battle against Bounty Killer last May.

“How you lose weight so fast?” sexy_body_shanshan had asked.   “Please give me the remedy cause me want get rid of this quarantine gut yah!”

In response, Beenie stated: “look out for the fitness line dropping April.   #SummaBodyForSummer.”

Also hailing the Craig Town native for his rapid weight loss, was indigophoenyx_official. “I was thinking the same. The slim down so fast is amazing,” she said and then added:  “@kingbeenieman 👑salute we need ya fitness regimen.”

Early last May Beenie began a mission to recalibrate his fitness level and his once-trim physique.   At the time, he posted several video clips of himself in Mountain Spring, a popular jogging trail for many of Jamaica’s rich and famous in the hills of St. Andrew, going through a series of road runs under the supervision of his fitness trainer.

He also said at the time that most of the weight he had dedicated himself to shedding, had accumulated around his belly.

Weeks later, on the morning following the Verzuz clash, in which he was jeered mercilessly about his ‘pot belly’, Beenie Man had declared that the live Saturday night showdown would be the last time that anyone would tease him about that part of his anatomy.

That night viewers had poked fun about his protruding abdomen and many memes and parodies had also surfaced online.  Amateur comedians, many of them teenagers, stuffed their shirts with clothes to project big bellies and mimicked aspects of his performance.

American actor and stand-up comedian Tony Baker, had even joined in on the action, posting at one point during the live Instagram feed: “Beenie Man’s lil stomach reminds me of those random kids in the hood that be outside with just a diaper on.  Toddler gut”.

His then partner Krystal Tomlinson, who is the mother of the singer’s youngest daughter, at the time also noted that she would be enlisting celebrity physical trainer, Patrice J. White of Dynamic Lifestyle Studio, to undertake operation “#FlatBellySummer”.

In July, Beenie Man announced that he had lost 15 inches from his waist after two months of his fitness programme with White.

“Mi nuh born wid big bone and mi did small when mi did young so it never easy fi me put on weight so it a go harder fi me lose it,” he had explained at the time.

He also said he wanted to turn the weight he was carrying into muscle, and asked his fans to give him a six-month period to deal with the matter.

“But don’t worry bout it, mi nuh waan lose weight, mi waan turn all of this inna muscle… so just watch mi training. Give mi six months and mi and unno talk. When yuh see mi in the next six months if mi look the same way then you can cuss mi…,” he had pleaded to his fans.

He had also said that his abdomen was not the only part of his body which was carrying fat, but that he was carrying unwanted weight all over.

“The problem is mi have fat every weh. Mi have fat inna mi neck, mi have fat inna mi face, mi have fat inna mi shoulder… Mi haffi lose fat every weh and if yuh nah lose fat every weh den yuh nah lose di belly, so mi haffi gwaan lose fat so see wid mi people. But by next year…mi up there, very sexy or over-sexy,” he had said.

The jeering of Beenie about his protruding tummy began in 2017 after a video clip surfaced on social media of him vibing with his friends in an inner-city area in Kingston.   Some of his fans came to his rescue, though, claiming that what he had was really a ‘rich man’s belly’.
