Dancehall veteran Beenie Man has confirmed that he split with his partner Krystal Tomlinson, who is the mother of his last child Xiah, in a casual video posted to Instagram and Twitter today.  The entertainer has come in for condemnation from his fans about ‘the cavalier manner’ in which he made the announcement.

Beenie made the announcement a year after Tomlinson, who is president of the Peoples National Party Youth Organisation (PNPYO) had said that immediately after Xiah is capable of walking independently, the two would be wed.

In a one-minute video post on Twitter, made shortly before 2:00 pm today, which he later reposted on Instagram, Beenie, who appeared to be telling a story to four men in a room, suddenly, though hesitantly, changed gear and began to explain why the five-year-old relationship had come to an end.

“Before wi guh pon da topic deh, serious talk deh bout dis.  People – oh God,” he said as he let out a sigh.  “How wi a guh duh dis now?   Yeh, Krystal Tomlinson an Moses Davis, is – yeh.  OK, we are apart,” he said, apparently building up more courage.

“It is not because a any bad vibes or any disrespect.  Its jut people grow apart and, yeh life change…yah.  Yeh, suh me free, single, disengaged; she, free and single and ready to engage.  Blessings,” he said before adding: “Anyway,” and then casually turning back to his friends to continue sharing the story he was telling, apparently about US President Donald Trump.

Krystal, who is a University of the West Indies (UWI) graduate, was not to be outdone.  An hour and a half later, she posted a photo of herself and the Old Dog artiste and captioned it with words signaling too, that their common-law relationship had ended.

She wrote: “Five Years and folding.   Part of growth is knowing when things have come to an end.   Knowing not to force it.   Knowing to let it be.   Leaving while there is love and not waiting until it is dry, empty and full of animosity.   Knowing to choose peace and trusting that all things work together for our good.   I’ve remained silent for a while on this question not to keep a secret but to get clear, certain and centred.   I am clear. I am certain. I am centred.   This chapter on love, written with love, is closed.”

The two had first made headlines back in January 2016 when they were spotted by news reporters kissing at the Rebel Salute show.  Back then, both had declined to take any pictures together.   Tomlinson later told The Star tabloid that she prefers to keep her life private and would not comment, while Beenie had confirmed that they were dating, but also refused to give any further details.

They came public with the relationship sometime later and Krystal gave birth to baby Xiah just over a year ago.

In February 2018, Beenie told the STAR that his divorce from former wife and Dancehall artiste D’Angel was still not yet final.  “We nuh fully divorced yet, but it’s on the verge of coming through. The papers in, a just the stamp of approval it need to get and that’s it,” he told the paper amid talk of popping the question to Tomlinson.

Rumors circulated twice last year of a breakup between the two.

On October 31, the two set out to dispel rumors that they were no longer together, after several social media posts began circulating that speculated that they had broken up, because Krystal had apparently deleted a heartfelt post she had shared on his birthday in August and was also absent from his mother’s funeral, where he had fainted.

The rumours also resurfaced in December when, after Beenie Man was summoned and charged by the St. Elizabeth police for breaching the COVID-19 protocols, Krystal had told her Instagram followers that she was overseas where she had spent Christmas.

Today, after she made her post, Krystal was showered with words of support from her fans and colleagues, many of whom commended her for the mature way in which she was handling the situation.

Beenie Man on the other hand, even though he was soothed by many of his fans, was peppered with harsh words and criticisms on his Instagram page where he posted the same video, sometime after the initial Twitter post.  Many of his female fans made it clear that his video was disrespectful to Tomlinson.

“Listen Beenie man, every one who knows me, knows you are my number one dj hands down. However you announcing your break up from krystal in such a manner is very tacky. I LOVE and respect that woman and I have seen the difference she made in your life. I expect better from you my dj !!!” highlyblessplum declared.

“Disgusting beenie man not a good way to announce something like this mi loose affa yuh breda and you is a artist mi did respect jah know start,” another fan stated.

Other followers told the 47-year-old that he was too old to be still carrying on with his womanizing ways.

“Yuh fi stop breed up woman dem and left dem after….one more baby mama,’ oyahbless declared, while dimethyltryptamine1 wrote: “This is the most distasteful BS even coming from you. What are you like 50+? Good luck finding a woman that can even come close to her. You’re so disrespectful SHAME ONE YOU. She deserves better than this!”

One fan misslap, said that while Beenie was a favourite star of hers, at his age he ought to get himself settled.

“Big man thing me love u but a time fi u settle down. You too old fi still a search, put in a little more effort n make it work,” she said.

There was one male follower godsent84, who found humour in Beenie’s actions.

“Yo Beenie is an inspiration, the man just cut like nothing, no tears, no crying.. All the idiots out there killing themselves and killing women that don’t want them, take a page from this man book. The man just get back right to him story lol,” he said.
