Vybz Kartel’s family celebrates his birthday.

The family of incarcerated Dancehall deejay Vybz Kartel celebrated his 45th birthday in fine style last night.

His long-term spouse and business partner Tanesha ‘Shorty’ Johnson manned his Instagram account for the night and shared the festivities by going Live.

The dinner party bore a white and gold theme and boasted two birthday cakes; one was a globe on its axis with a crown, accentuated by photos of his albums and EPs, while the main cake had a photo of Kartel’s Dancehall Royalty album cover. There were also gold cupcakes, Moët & Chandon to last all month, a caterer, and a ‘strictly Addi’ playlist provided by DJ Vibes.

Johnson wore a polo shirt with the words “Happy Birthday My Strong Man” while her three sons, fathered by Kartel, wore shirts with “Happy Birthday Dad” engraved.

More than 7000 folks tuned into the Live as Johnson popped champagne, danced to her boo’s music, and featured the party decor. She also showed her guests, most notably Kartel’s mother Teresa Palmer.

“Big up mi nice clean babyfather,” said Johnson. “Happy birthday, I love you.”

The couple’s eldest son Likkle Vybz took over the Live for some time, and hailed all the Gaza ladies who sent birthday wishes to his dad in the comments. He also declared that there was only one king, his dad, and proclaimed freedom for the artiste who is currently appealing a murder conviction for which he is serving a life sentence.

Likkle Vybz’s girlfriend and Youtuber Britney Hearne was also present and had a Live of her own while at the event.

Johnson’s event wasn’t the only party being held in Kartel’s honour. Bronx-based selector DJ Lava was having a virtual party for the ‘World Boss’, and Johnson joined his Instagram Live as she cut the main cake with her sons and Kartel’s mother.

Deejay Spice was next to join Lava’s Live, and threw her Gaza hand sign up as she reiterated “Fully Gaza, Gaza for life, free World Boss.”

The artiste was at Living Room Bar and Dining in Kingston celebrating her sister’s birthday.

“Big up Vybz Kartel, one king, one don, the GOAT,” she said. “It’s also my sister’s birthday so mi haffi big up mi likkle sister Fenise, she and Vybz Kartel born pon di same day… Mi sister just get a ring pon her birthday pon Kartel day so it’s a big day in Jamaica.”

Gaza Nation Vice-Principal Sikka Rymes also went Live, and was chilling among friends while playing the deejay’s music.

Kartel’s Dancehall Royalty album will be released today. The deejay celebrated his birthday last year by releasing the genre-bending album To Tanesha.
