Police in St. Elizabeth have issued a summons for veteran Dancehall entertainer Beenie Man, over a party held in breach of the Disaster Risk Management Act (DRMA).

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in charge of St Elizabeth, Narda Simms, the summons is in relation to an illegal party held in the parish on November 29.

Simms further noted that she is aware of another party that Beenie Man is promoting that is slated for New Year’s eve also to be held in the parish.

A video clip has been making the rounds on social media platforms, in which the entertainer, whose real name is Moses Davis, is seen promoting a New Year’s eve party.

In the thirteen second long clip, Beenie Man encourages patrons, who are aware of the location, to attend, but doesn’t disclose the precise address of the party.  It is understood that the party will be held in St Elizabeth.

“St Elizabeth if unno know where the party deh reach, so you know seh a New Year’s Eve and we haffi ring in the New Years, we nuh care wah who want to say,” Beenie Man is heard saying in the video.

“So if you know where the party deh, unno haffi deh deh, the party name 12 to 7; So we have bon fire and you know seh me….everything good…you know so walk with unno money, if you a come and broke a you alone it ago sweet,” added the entertainer.

DSP Simms noted that patrons who attend the entertainer’s event will be prosecuted.

“This event for which no permit was issued would clearly be in breach of the DRMA, hence this warning is being issued to him not to host any event in St. Elizabeth or anywhere else in Jamaica. Patrons who intend to attend this event are also being warned not to attend as they too would be in breach of the DRMA and will be prosecuted when caught”, said DSP Simms.

DSP Simms further used the occasion to issue a warning to party promoters, particularly those in Clarendon, Manchester and St. Elizabeth to desist from hosting events or parties that are in breach of the Disaster Risk Management Act.

This warning comes on the heels of concerns raised by members of the Divisional Intelligence Unit about an event to be held in St. Elizabeth tonight between the hours of midnight and 7:00 a.m. Friday, January 1, 2021.
